The Role: Seafood Fish Cutter
The Seafood Fish Cutter is responsible for performing routine cutting, trimming, and processing of seafood using hand tools or hand-operated equipment while maintaining FreshDirect's high standards for quality, safety, and freshness.
What You'll Do
  • Cut, trim, scrape, and prepare various species and cuts of fish
  • Perform processing duties including slicing, packing, and labeling
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on raw and finished materials
  • Follow safe food handling practices specific to the department
  • Pick, prepare, and pack products into boats, totes, and boxes
  • Scan package labels, load packaging machines, and apply printed labels
  • Spot-check packaged products for accuracy and proper labeling
  • Assist in shutdown and sanitation procedures as needed
  • Apply knowledge of production methods and daily operational processes
  • Lift up to 50 pounds consistently
  • Stand and walk for 6-10 hours per shift
  • Perform repetitive motions including bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • Work in environments ranging from -10°F (freezer) to 32-40°F (refrigerated areas)
  • Work in wet, cold, and noisy environments with exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals
  • Operate tools and equipment such as box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other machinery
  • Support additional areas of the business as needed
  • Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
