JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Greystars Corporate Communications team serves as the enterprise voice of the company, partnering closely with business leadership to shape strategic narratives and build Greystar's profile. We are looking for an experienced communications professional to join our team to lead external communications for the Americas.
This individual has a strong foundation in media relations across the real estate and financial industries, a network of key press contacts, and a track record of executing impactful external communications campaigns.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, this person will lead Greystar's US media engagement activities and support our broader global communications strategy, with a particular focus on our investment management business.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Role Responsibilities

  • Build and leverage an established network of financial and real estate media contacts to generate proactive, high-quality coverage on key company priorities
  • Drive the external communications roadmap, leading the Americas external communications team in delivering a proactive communications strategy that aligns with enterprise priorities
  • Handle day-to-day press inbounds and support crisis communications efforts, including developing rapid-response messaging and ensuring consistent, accurate information is communicated across channels
  • Lead a proactive, unified US external communications strategy that connects to Greystar's broader global approach
  • Maintain and execute against a forward-looking external communications calendar, defining thought leadership topics, key messages, and spokesperson briefings that position Greystar as a market leader
  • Drive Greystar's LinkedIn strategy and support broader social media efforts, developing content and campaigns that build brand presence, amplify earned media coverage, and engage target audiences across investment management and real estate
  • Organize and support press interviews, media events and spokesperson briefings.
  • Represent Greystar at relevant industry groups, conferences, and events

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 7+ years of experience in external communications, with meaningful exposure to the real estate and/or financial services industry
  • An established network of media relationships across trade, national, and consumer outlets, with a track record of generating impactful coverage
  • Exceptional writing, messaging, and storytelling skills across formats and channels
  • Experience managing a team, with a collaborative approach to leadership
  • Comfort navigating large, complex organizations with multiple stakeholders and communications priorities
  • Ability to counsel and support senior leaders on communications strategies and messaging
  • A proactive, creative mindset with the ability to move quickly, adapt to shifting priorities, and deliver high-quality work under deadline
  • Familiarity with communications technologies including Microsoft Office 365, media monitoring platforms, newswires, and PR databases

Ideally this role would sit at Greystar's Global Headquarters in Charleston, SC.

Open to this role sitting in other locations where we have a corporate office, with preference for: New York, NY; Chicago, IL; Washington, DC.

The salary range for this role is: $125,000-$170,000.

Additional Compensation:

Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including business requirements, prior experience, current skills and geographical location.

  • Corporate Positions:Inaddition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participateina quarterly or annual bonus program based onindividual and company performance.

  • Onsite Property Positions:Inaddition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participatein weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly bonus programs.
