Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Media & Entertainment Finance Associate Attorney to join a global law firm in Los Angeles or New York.

Direct Counsel has partnered with a leading international law firm in seeking a mid-level finance associate to join its Sports, Media & Entertainment practice. This is a unique opportunity to work on sophisticated financing transactions for clients across the music, film, television, sports, and broader entertainment industries.

Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will have at least four years of debt finance experience at a law firm and a strong interest in media and entertainment transactions. The role involves representing entertainment and media companies, financial institutions, private credit funds, and entrepreneurs in complex debt and equity financings involving media assets and businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent agents, lenders, borrowers, issuers, and investors in senior, junior, mezzanine, and structured financing transactions

  • Draft and negotiate secured lending and finance documentation

  • Advise on financings involving media and entertainment assets, including music catalogs, film libraries, and other content portfolios

  • Work on acquisition financings and private credit transactions involving entertainment industry clients

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on complex transactional matters

Qualifications:

  • JD from an accredited law school

  • Admission to practice in the state of the office location (California or New York)

  • 4+ years of debt finance experience at a law firm

  • Strong drafting and negotiation experience in secured lending transactions

  • Experience with private credit, asset-backed, or structured finance transactions preferred

  • Familiarity with entertainment, copyright, or media financing structures is a plus

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Work Environment:
Hybrid work arrangement with regular in-office presence.

Compensation:
$310,000 โ€“ $390,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
