Job Description
The Director, Franchise Recruiting & Engagement serves as the strategic leader responsible for advisor recruiting, onboarding, engagement, and organic growth initiatives across an assigned territory. This role partners closely with Franchise Field Vice Presidents (FFVPs), Franchise Consultants, Associate Financial Advisors (AFAs), and franchise advisors to drive business growth through advisor engagement, business planning, recruiting excellence, and talent development.
The Director leads the end-to-end appointment, onboarding, and development of Novice and Experienced Associate Financial Advisors, External Practice Acquisition hires, and critical franchise staff career paths. This position also provides strategic thought leadership for national growth initiatives, influences advisor adoption of key programs, and serves as a trusted advisor to field leadership in advancing the Ameriprise Wealth Management Blueprint and strategic priorities.
If you are not located close to a physical office, remote work is considered for qualified candidates. Any expectations for travel or in-person collaboration will be discussed during the hiring process. This position is eligible for remote work in these locations: NY (NY Metro) and other locations in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Key Responsibilities
Advisor Engagement & Organic Growth
  • Drive organic growth across the assigned territory through strategic advisor engagement, business planning, and execution of growth initiatives.
  • Lead the annual Advisor Business Planning process, ensuring high participation and effective implementation of advisor growth goals aligned to territory resources and business objectives.
  • Partners with advisors, AFAs, and field leadership to identify growth opportunities, address business challenges, and promote best-in-class practice development.
  • Increase advisor participation in region and territory events, growth programs, training sessions, and practice management initiatives.
  • Connect top advisors with tools, resources, and programs designed to accelerate business growth and improve practice performance.
  • Support field leaders and advisors with strategic consulting, implementation guidance, and follow-up coaching to maximize business outcomes.

Recruiting & Talent Acquisition Leadership
  • Lead a high-quality, high-volume recruiting strategy for Franchisee Staff, Novice and Experienced Associate Financial Advisors, and External Practice Acquisition candidates.
  • Develop and execute diversified sourcing strategies that generate a consistent pipeline of qualified talent.
  • Effectively assess candidates through screening and interviews, evaluate fit, and communicate the unique value proposition of each opportunity.
  • Partners with franchise advisors and field leaders throughout the recruiting lifecycle, including sourcing, selection, offer negotiation, hiring, onboarding, and long-term development planning.
  • Drive career path management initiatives for critical franchise staff positions to support succession planning and talent development.
  • Promote inclusive recruiting practices and diverse candidate pipelines that align with organizational Diversity & Inclusion objectives.

Advisor & Practice Acquisition Onboarding
  • Lead the onboarding process for all newly hired Associate Financial Advisors and External Practice Acquisition transitions.
  • Develop customized onboarding plans that accelerate advisor integration, productivity, and business growth.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the onboarding experience, coordinating resources, training, systems access, and transition support.
  • Ensure advisors successfully transition clients and assets while progressing toward pre-transition levels of production and growth.
  • Partner with field leadership and home office stakeholders to remove barriers and support successful advisor launches.

Leadership, Strategy & Influence
  • Provide leadership to matrixed business partners responsible for achieving growth and engagement objectives within the territory.
  • Demonstrate expertise in advisor business models, practice management, recruiting strategies, and field operations.
  • Present strategic messaging on behalf of local and national leadership teams in advisor engagement forums and territory events.
  • Lead or support AFG Strategic Imperative committees aligned with the Ameriprise Wealth Management Blueprint.
  • Translate corporate strategies into actionable field initiatives and measurable business outcomes.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and best-practice sharing across Franchise Recruiting & Engagement colleagues through leadership forums, national meetings, training sessions, and peer mentoring relationships.
  • Influence stakeholders at all levels through strong relationship management, negotiation, and collaborative leadership skills.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in recruiting, advisor development, business consulting, practice management, financial services, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative and accountability while effectively collaborating across teams.
  • Proven ability to create and implement change, drive measurable results, and hold stakeholders accountable.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate long-term vision into tactical execution plans.
  • Outstanding relationship management, consulting, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Strong project management experience, including the leadership of recruiting, onboarding, advisor development, or operational initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Ameriprise Financial field organization, advisor business models, policies, and operational processes.
  • Ability to support multiple offices and remote locations.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading recruiting or talent acquisition initiatives.
  • Financial services industry experience.
  • Knowledge of advisor recruiting, practice acquisitions, and advisor business development.
  • Series 7 license.
  • Series 66 license.
  • Experience leading large-scale advisor engagement, onboarding, or business growth programs.
  • Demonstrated success influencing senior leaders, franchise advisors, and field leadership teams.

Base Pay Salary
The estimated base salary for this role is $126,200 - $221,700 / year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that supports all aspects of your health and well-being, including but not limited to vacation time, sick time, 401(k), and health, dental and life insurances.
