Job description

What You'll Do
We're looking for a Managing Director to join our Capital Raising team in Principal Real Estate. In this role, you will lead sales efforts for defined contribution private equity real estate solutions, including established offerings and new product development initiatives across private markets. You will focus on growing assets with new and existing investors, partnering across internal sales and retirement teams, and helping position private real estate strategies for the defined contribution market.
  • Develop deep and strategic relationships with Limited Partners and lead investment sales efforts for defined contribution (DC) private equity real estate solutions, both new capital and continued investment from existing investors
  • Partner closely with internal sales, retirement, and real estate teams to drive distribution strategy, client targeting, and education on private real estate in DC plans
  • Manage and deepen relationships with existing DC clients, providing ongoing updates on capital deployment, market conditions, and portfolio activity.
  • Contribute to product development initiatives across private markets (e.g., private real estate, credit, and model portfolio solutions), providing input on marketability and design considerations
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on DC private assets, supporting colleagues and contributing to thought leadership initiatives
  • Represent Principal externally through industry associations, conferences, and research contributions to support adoption of private assets in DC plans

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of related experience, including 5+ years sales/business development experience (10+ preferred)
  • Defined contribution channel experience (experience with DC plans investing in private assets preferred)
  • Established relationships with a spectrum of institutional investors and consultants
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and distribute Private Market strategies relevant for the Defined Contribution Market.

Must have the ability to travel, approximately 50% of the time

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range
$211000 - $285000 / year
Salary Details
The base salary range for this role is $211,000 - $285,000 as indicated above. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, and alignment with the role's responsibilities.
In addition to base pay, this role participates in an annual profit share bonus plan.
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don't accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
