Job description

Join one of the largest High-Net-Worth MGUs in the market as an Director – Data Goveranance!

Open to remote candidates, with travel to St. Petersburg, FL required at least once every two months.

Candidates located near our offices in New York, New Jersey, Schaumburg, or St. Petersburg are expected to work onsite regularly.

What You’ll Do:

Lead and operationalize enterprise-wide data governance across a distributed application ecosystem.

Establish and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating models.

Build and oversee reconciliation controls between systems, APIs, event streams, and data integrations.

Drive root-cause analysis and permanent remediation of data quality and reconciliation issues.

Partner with engineering, product, analytics, finance, and operations teams to ensure data accuracy and consistency.

Define and enforce data ownership, stewardship, and accountability across business domains.

Develop and maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries, lineage maps, and governance documentation.

Create data quality KPIs, dashboards, and executive-level scorecards to monitor governance performance.

Review and approve schema, API, and data-impacting changes before deployment.

Embed governance controls and standards into Agile/SDLC processes and delivery workflows.

Collaborate with warehouse and analytics teams to ensure application and warehouse data parity.

Lead governance initiatives with internal teams and external implementation partners to improve delivery quality and reduce recurring defects.

What We’re Looking For:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field.

5+ years of hands-on data governance experience, including work within distributed or microservices environments.

Proven experience building scalable data governance and reconciliation programs from the ground up.

Strong SQL expertise with the ability to analyze transactional and warehouse data independently.

Experience with Python or similar scripting languages for automation, profiling, and reconciliation.

Solid understanding of REST APIs, event-driven architecture, integrations, and data contracts.

Experience with enterprise data governance, catalog, or data quality tools.

Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms, modern data infrastructure, and warehouse environments.

Familiarity with master data management, reference data, and identity resolution practices.

Understanding of data privacy, compliance, and regulatory standards such as SOC 2.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause investigation skills.

Ability to influence cross-functional teams and hold partners accountable to delivery standards.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical issues for business stakeholders and executives.

Self-starter mentality with the ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.

Experience within financial services, insurance, or other regulated industries is a plus.
