Position Summary:
The Sr. Director, Identity and Access Management role is responsible for all aspects of Access Management, Identity Governance and Administration, and Privileged Account Management strategy, design, and implementation across Smurfit Westrock. This role will have the opportunity to partner with leaders across a global organization of 100,000 people to protect and enable our workforce using modern access management solutions. This role will also work in close collaboration with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and Operations staff on core security requirements, including Directory Services design and configuration, operations enablement, and other technical requirements.
How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:
  • Guiding, along with the Group Chief Information Security Officer, the Identity and Access Management strategy, including roadmaps for Access Management, Identity Governance and Administration, Privileged Account Management, and other Identity technologies.
  • Working in cooperation with the Infrastructure Engineering function to create a seamless and reliable directory services infrastructure that meets business needs.
  • Leads the design, configuration, and implementation of robust identity and access solutions, including tools to support Access Management, Privileged Account Management, Privileged Account Management, and other Identity technologies.
  • Facilitates access provisioning, access reviews, and security audits to maintain secure operations.
  • Recruiting, developing, and retaining a high-performing team. Building a strong slate of successors within the IT organization to prepare for growth.
  • Maintaining a customer-focused service culture in response to internal and external customer needs and expectations.
  • Monitoring external technology changes and serving as a source of continuous innovation, facilitating speed-to-market and competitive advantage.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and selecting new and emerging technologies that can be assimilated within WestRock to significantly improve information security, competitive positioning, provide deeper digital capabilities, and foster innovation.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor. Build and maintain relationships with other IT leaders and stakeholders to develop a clear understanding of technology needs and ensure cost-effective delivery of Identity services to meet those needs; respond with agility to changing business priorities.
  • Managing allocated operating and capital budgets to ensure it is consistent with the overall strategic objectives of IT and the enterprise.
  • Managing relationships with key technology vendors across the portfolio.

What you need to succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree or a similar level of training in IT and information security.
  • 12 years of IT experience with 8 years of experience focused on information security.
  • Minimum 5 years in an Identity-focused security role.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Cybersecurity and Identity system security expertise.
  • Solid understanding of Identity and Access Management concepts, standards, and frameworks.
  • Certifications are a plus, such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, and other similar certs.
  • Travel up to 30%
  • Self-starter with the capability to motivate others.
  • Experience leading small teams of direct reports across a global enterprise.
  • Experience coordinating geographically dispersed virtual teams.
  • Being self-directed, fast-paced, collaborative, and results-oriented.
  • Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office 365 communication tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work and collaborate with employees at all levels.
  • Maintains awareness of the external and internal threat landscape and emerging trends.
