Pharmaron is seeking a strategic and operationally focused Finance Director to serve as the senior finance leader for our Coventry, Rhode Island manufacturing site.
This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity for an experienced finance professional who thrives in fast-paced manufacturing environments and enjoys partnering closely with operational, commercial, and executive leadership teams. Job Overview
The Finance Director will lead the finance function for Pharmaron's Coventry site, overseeing financial planning, operational finance, cost accounting, reporting, compliance, and strategic financial support.
This role combines financial leadership, operational partnership, and commercial support within a complex pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting site operations, improving financial processes, driving operational efficiencies, and supporting long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial modeling for the Coventry site
  • Partner with site leadership to drive financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business growth and profitability initiatives
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting activities ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Support capital investment planning, capital expenditure tracking, and financial evaluation of projects

Operational & Commercial Partnership
  • Partner closely with operations, manufacturing, procurement, and commercial teams to support site performance
  • Support pricing analysis, customer profitability assessments, and commercial decision-making
  • Drive inventory valuation, standard costing, and working capital optimization initiatives
  • Develop and improve costing models and operational financial processes to support scalable growth
  • Support revenue recognition activities and ensure alignment with company policies

Governance, Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and corporate reporting requirements
  • Oversee payroll reviews, reconciliations, and payroll-related financial controls
  • Support external audits, internal control reviews, tax reporting, and other compliance initiatives
  • Manage vendor setup and change processes ensuring adherence to company controls and procedures
  • Partner with corporate teams to enhance financial systems and reporting capabilities
  • Implement and maintain inventory control processes to ensure accurate balance sheet reporting

Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Coventry finance team
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuous improvement-focused culture
  • Support employee development through coaching, performance management, and succession planning

What We're Looking For
  • CPA required with approximately 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
  • Combination of public accounting and industry experience strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotech, or CDMO operations highly desirable
  • Strong background in financial planning, operational finance, cost accounting, and business partnering
  • Experience operating within multinational or matrixed organizations
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, reporting requirements, and operational finance processes
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decision-making across operational and executive leadership teams
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
  • SAP or Oracle ERP experience preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Mandarin language skills are a plus
