Job Title: Cosmetic Scientist, Technical Sales, Personal Care & Cosmetic Ingredients

Location: Northeast USA (remote office)

Compensation: Competitive base salary plus bonus, company car, & excellent benefits

Overview:

Our client is a producer of functional chemical ingredients primarily sold to manufacturers of Cosmetic and Personal Care products. This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the sales process from client interaction, sampling, ideation, sales, delivery, contract negotiation, presentations, and revenue collection.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Develop new business opportunities for the personal care/cosmetics product portfolio (preservation systems, surfactants, emollients, silicone alternatives, emulsifiers, texturizers, and botanical extracts). Most applications are for Hair Care, Skin Care, and Sun Care portfolios. All sales are B2B.
  • Sell fine chemicals and ingredients to direct accounts and also through distribution
  • Deliver growth to the category through innovation and customer insights
  • Maintain and grow customer relationships
  • Provide marketing & strategic leadership to deliver financial results
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree is required. A specific degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, or other Science is required.
  • Chemical ingredient sales experience to manufacturers of personal care and/or cosmetics and co-packers / private label packaging companies is desired.
  • Prior experience in the cosmetic / personal care laboratory preparing formulations for customers is highly desired. Hair care, Skin care, and/or Sun care product experience is desired.
  • Goal-driven, motivated professional demonstrating a winning sales record
  • Strong leader and team player; excellent motivational skills to build and sustain forward growth momentum while motivating peak individual performance from team members
  • Experience in managing all phases of sales development cycles, from prospecting and cold calling through detailed presentations and negotiation to closing and follow-up activities
  • Experienced in New Business Development and generating new ideas and solutions that provide increased margins for the business. Experienced in leading matrix teams comprising sales, marketing, research and development, technical support, manufacturing, finance, procurement and distribution.
