Our large manufacturing client located in Peoria, Illinois, is looking for an entry-level Quality Engineer to add to their team.
Position Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining and controlling key product quality documentation and supporting engineering changes to ensure product compliance with customer and internal requirements. This role plays a critical part in ensuring documentation accuracy, change control, and product approval readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Control Plan Ownership
- Own and maintain Part-Specific Control Plans, ensuring they accurately reflect current process conditions and customer requirements.
- Monitor ECNs and proposed process changes in the form of PCNs to ensure all changes are linked and properly documented within PPAP submission.
- Ensure control plans are aligned with PFMEA, process flow, and manufacturing practices.
Engineering Change Management (ECN)
- Support Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) implementation staying ahead of planned product changes.
- Evaluate quality impact of changes and update all affected quality documentation launching new PPAP requests when necessary.
- Ensure proper communication and traceability of changes across cross-functional teams including NPI, NSI, and CPI stakeholders.
Design Records Management
- Review, maintain, and ensure accuracy of Design Records so that most recent records are captured within the PPAP submission.
- Verify alignment between design requirements, specifications, and released documentation.
- Support engineering and customer changes impacting product design documentation.
Appearance Approval Report (AAR)
- Coordinate and complete Appearance Approval Reports (AAR) as required.
- Ensure product meets customer aesthetic and cosmetic requirements including branding, serial number location, and work order markings.
- Perform edits to the Appearance Approval Report should appearance-related approvals dictate the need.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field preferred).
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in a quality or manufacturing engineering role.
- Experience with machining or regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of:
- Control Plans and quality documentation.
- Engineering change processes (ECN/ECR).
- Design documentation and revision control.
- Blueprint reading.
- Familiarity with AIAG standards and customer-specific requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management systems.
Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy and timeliness of Control Plan updates.
- ECN implementation effectiveness.
- Process documentation with PPAP submission cycle time.
- Design record accuracy and revision control compliance.
- PPAP approval success rate.
