Job description

Coordinator, Content Protection

Reporting to the Director, Content Protection, the Coordinator provides support to Sony Pictures Entertainment ("SPE") Content Protection Group executives and plays a role in the development, monitoring, and execution of SPE's content protection efforts on a global level. The individual will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge of movies, tv series, and anime to protect SPE's intellectual property from infringement and digital piracy.

Responsibilities

  • Manages day-to-day support of SPE's global content protection / anti-piracy operations, including comprehensive title management responsibilities (e.g., service commencements with vendors, tracking and monitoring title coverage, adjustments to title coverage to align with objectives, billing, etc.)
  • Enforces on infringement of SPE content and serves as the initial point of review and action, activates rights and policies for fingerprinting initiatives, and coordinates with points of contact across business partners, online platforms, and vendors
  • Serves as point of contact for leak notification and referrals of suspected piracy incidents
  • Tracks global release schedules for SPE content to coordinate protection efforts and make recommendations on risk mitigation and security
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for technical system enhancements including UGC/Social Media content management systems and SPE's rights management system
  • Conducts ad hoc reports related to piracy trends and specific piracy threats

Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Familiarity with social media outlets (e.g., Facebook, Twitter/X, TikTok) and user-generated content platforms (e.g., YouTube, DailyMotion)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly collaborative and eager to learn from team members
  • Ability to communicate effectively cross functionally, with business partners, and with various outside points of contact
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • General understanding of legitimate content distribution methods and platforms as well as the landscape of piracy services, including streaming video, online file hosting, and peer-to-peer sharing
  • Prior experience with content management systems (e.g., YouTube's ContentID platform). YouTube's Digital Rights Management Certification a plus.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages is a plus
  • Interest and enthusiasm for films, television series, and anime content helpful
  • Interest and enthusiasm in content protection/anti-piracy helpful

The anticipated base salary for this position is $65,000-$75,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
