Job description

THE ROLE

A confidential, highly respected, multi-billion-dollar global retailer is seeking a Regional Director of Construction to lead construction execution across one of its largest and most strategic regions.

This executive-level leadership role is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of new store builds, remodels, relocations, refreshes, and strategic capital projects across multiple retail brands. Reporting to the Senior Director of Construction, this leader will drive execution through a team of Regional Senior Project Managers while partnering closely with Real Estate, Design, Preconstruction, Procurement, Finance, Operations, and external partners to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and aligned with brand standards.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative construction leader who enjoys developing people, building strong contractor relationships, driving operational excellence, and leading complex, multi-site retail development programs across a dynamic portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead regional construction execution across new store development, remodels, relocations, refreshes, and capital improvement projects.
  • Develop, mentor, and lead a team of Regional Senior Project Managers, driving accountability, consistency, and professional growth.
  • Partner with Real Estate, Design, and Preconstruction teams throughout site selection, feasibility, lease coordination, and project planning.
  • Oversee contractor sourcing, bid evaluations, contract negotiations, vendor management, and project execution across the region.
  • Manage regional construction budgets, forecasting, scheduling, reporting, and capital planning while ensuring projects consistently meet Cost, Quality, and Schedule (CQS) expectations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, landlords, and cross-functional business partners.
  • Identify opportunities to improve construction processes, operational efficiencies, reporting, and overall project delivery.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex construction challenges while providing portfolio updates and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

IDEAL BACKGROUND

  • 10+ years of progressive commercial retail construction and development experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale, multi-site retail construction portfolios across multiple markets.
  • Experience overseeing new store development, remodels, relocations, refreshes, and strategic capital projects.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor Project Managers and high-performing construction teams.
  • Strong expertise in construction contracts, bidding, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, lease coordination, and vendor management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing capital budgets and construction portfolios.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment while balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day execution.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the assigned region.
