Position Summary:
The Director, Construction Analysis & Administration, provides executive leadership for cost analysis, forecasting, and construction administration across Family Dollar's nationwide construction programs. This role oversees construction accounting, data analytics, and administrative support functions, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency. A key responsibility is to leverage advanced analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, Python, Excel) to deliver data-driven insights on costs, project durations, vendor performance, and change orders. The Director partners with Construction, Finance, Real Estate, and Operations to optimize cost visibility, strengthen controls, and improve program performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Department Oversight
  • Lead and develop teams across Construction Administration, Construction Accounting, and data analytics.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and career development for direct reports, including analysts and supervisors.
  • Ensure administrative and billing operations align with project execution and corporate priorities.

Financial Analysis & Reporting
  • Oversee cost analysis and reporting for 700+ projects annually, representing $300M+ in capital spend.
  • Direct creation of dashboards and KPIs using Power BI, Tableau, and Excel to provide leadership with actionable insights.
  • Ensure data integration across systems (Lucernex, Ariba, Accruent, Lawson) for accurate forecasting and project tracking.

Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Lead annual capital planning and forecasting processes.
  • Provide variance analysis and trend reporting for executives to support strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with Construction leadership to assess bids, estimates, and contracts for cost accuracy and efficiency.

Construction Administration & Contracts
  • Oversee contract administration, vendor setup, purchase orders, and invoice processing.
  • Ensure compliance with AIA contracts and CSI codes across all construction projects.
  • Monitor change orders and provide analysis of cost impact and vendor performance.

Data Analytics & Systems
  • Drive use of analytics platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Python, Excel) to provide executive dashboards for cost, duration, vendor performance, and compliance.
  • Champion continuous improvement through automation, predictive analytics, and data quality initiatives.
  • Serve as business owner for construction-related systems, ensuring accuracy and scalability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Finance, Real Estate, Facilities, and Store Operations to deliver accurate project reporting and cost controls.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership by presenting insights that shape business strategy.
  • Lead process improvement and change management initiatives to enhance organizational efficiency.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Construction Management, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in construction administration, cost analysis, or project management.
  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to apply analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel, Python) to drive insights and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with AIA contracts and CSI codes.
  • Strong leadership, financial acumen, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with construction estimating and capital project forecasting.
  • Prior leadership in licensing, utilities, or construction accounting functions.
  • PMP, CFA, or equivalent certification.
  • Fortune 500 retail or multi-site construction program experience

Additional Information
This role requires occasional travel to project sites and may involve work outside standard business hours. The role will operate with high independence and be expected to drive projects to completion with limited oversight.
Projected Base Salary: $160,000-$180,000/yr
