Summary

Senior Manager, Strategic Planning & Competitive Intelligence plays a key role in advancing the organization’s enterprise strategy through strategic planning and reporting, competitive intelligence, and executive decision support.

This role serves as a strategic partner to the Senior Director, Global Strategy. The Senior Manager works closely with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and volunteer leaders to translate market dynamics, organizational priorities, and data into clear recommendations and decision-ready materials.

The Senior Manager supports the enterprise strategic planning process, contributes to high-priority strategic initiatives, plays an important role in the competitive intelligence capability, and applies AI-enabled workflows to improve the speed, quality, and scalability of research, synthesis, and reporting.


Essential Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Reporting

  • Support the design, execution, and ongoing evolution of the organization’s strategic plan reporting process.
  • Support management of the enterprise strategic planning calendar and coordination of cross-functional participation.
  • Deeply understand the business rationale, measures of success, risks, and interdependencies across strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with business unit leaders to assess progress, identify performance gaps, and develop mitigation or course-correction strategies.
  • Lead the development of executive- and Board-ready reporting on strategy execution and enterprise-wide KPIs, including dashboards, presentations, and written briefings.
  • Help drive alignment and effective communication of the strategic plan across the organization and global network.
  • Manage timelines, deliverables, and follow-through associated with strategic planning and reporting activities.
  • Facilitate planning meetings, working sessions, and follow-up actions to support execution and accountability.


Competitive Intelligence

  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the organization’s competitive intelligence capability.
  • Monitor and assess competitors, peer organizations, adjacent sectors, and emerging market entrants.
  • Produce regular and ad hoc intelligence outputs (e.g., briefings, dashboards, alerts, newsletters) tailored to executive leadership and other internal stakeholders.
  • Synthesize competitive insights across offerings, pricing, partnerships, digital capabilities, and operating models.
  • Help integrate competitive intelligence into strategic planning, product strategy, partnerships, and enterprise decision support.
  • Develop RFPs and manage external vendors, research providers, and intelligence partners supporting competitive and market insights.
  • Maintain recurring intelligence cadences, deliverables, and follow-up to ensure insights are timely, relevant, and actionable.

Internal Strategy Consulting

  • Support initiatives requiring strategic framing, analysis, and insight generation.
  • Frame complex strategic questions, develop hypotheses, and evaluate strategic options prior to broader implementation.
  • Conduct advanced analyses including market sizing, scenario planning, benchmarking, and business case development.
  • Translate complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations and decision-support materials for senior leadership.
  • Lead workstreams and support cross-functional strategic initiatives with enterprise-wide impact.
  • Coordinate stakeholders, manage project timelines, and drive follow-through on assigned strategic initiatives.


AI-Enabled Analysis & Workflow Innovation

  • Apply AI tools and agent-based workflows to accelerate research, insight generation, synthesis, and reporting.
  • Design responsible, repeatable AI-enabled workflows across strategy and intelligence processes.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging AI tools and approaches that improve efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and improve strategic planning and reporting workflows.
  • Support testing, refinement, and adoption of AI-enabled processes across recurring strategy and intelligence work.


Qualifications

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, strategic planning, competitive intelligence, or related roles.
  • Experience supporting executive level decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver with limited ramp time.
  • Experience in professional associations or similar multi-stakeholder environments strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing projects or workstreams involving cross-functional stakeholders and tight timelines preferred.
