Job description

WE ARE RARE
Bionews is a digital health solutions company dedicated to empowering more than 50 rare disease communities with trusted information, news, and connections. We foster a space where hope thrives, and patients' voices are heard. Since 2013, we've been committed to serving patients and elevating their voices. Our motto is "For Rare, By Rare." With over 50% of our team living with or caring for someone with a rare condition, we deeply understand the unique challenges and needs of these communities. Our network of more than 500,000 registered members actively seeks news, clinical insights, and shared experiences, creating a safe space for peer support, connection, and learning.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Bionews is diversifying beyond its core Digital DTC business into HCP, Insights, Clinical Recruitment, and direct pharma partnerships, and Insights is central to that growth. The VP, Insights Sales is a full-time, quota-carrying seller responsible for building and closing new business across Bionews' Insights portfolio, with a primary focus on launching and selling Brio, Bionews' new subscription-based rare disease market research platform, to pharma and biotech clients.
Brio is the first patient research platform built inside real rare disease communities: consented, proprietary, and covering 16 conditions at launch in fall 2026. This role will own the go-to-market motion for Brio as a net-new subscription product, while also selling Bionews' broader Insights capabilities (custom research, patient advisory panels, surveys, and syndicated data) to medical affairs, market research, insights, and brand teams at pharma and biotech companies. This is a strategic, high-visibility hire reporting into Commercial Leadership, with significant influence over how Bionews positions and prices a brand-new product line in market.
ROLE DEVELOPMENT & GROWTH
This role is designed to lead Insights and Brio new-business sales as the function scales alongside the company's evolving needs and strategic priorities. Brio launches in fall 2026; the initial months of this role will center on pipeline-building, early-adopter sales, and refining positioning and pricing in partnership with Product and Marketing, with quota and territory scope expanding as the platform matures.
Location: Remotely
Key Responsibilities
Brio Platform Sales
  • Go-to-Market Ownership: identify and prioritize target accounts across pharma and biotech medical affairs, market research/insights, and brand teams for the fall 2026 launch.
  • Demo & Consultative Selling: run discovery calls, platform demos, and proposal development to convert prospects into Brio subscribers across the 16 launch conditions.
  • Client Acquisition: close new subscription agreements and manage the full sales cycle from first outreach through contract signature and onboarding handoff.
  • Pricing & Packaging Feedback: partner with the Insights/Brio product team on packaging, pricing, and positioning based on live market feedback.

Insights Portfolio Sales
  • Portfolio Cross-Sell: sell Bionews' broader Insights offerings, including custom market research, patient advisory panels, surveys, and syndicated data, to complement Brio and expand wallet share within accounts.
  • Pipeline Development: build and maintain a qualified pipeline sufficient to meet quarterly and annual revenue targets for the Insights line of business.
  • Cross-Functional Bundling: identify opportunities to bundle Insights/Brio into broader Bionews pharma partnerships alongside DTC, HCP, and Clinical Recruitment.

Pipeline & Forecasting
  • Salesforce Discipline: maintain accurate, current Salesforce records for all opportunities, activities, and forecasts.
  • Forecast Accuracy: provide reliable weekly and monthly forecasts to Commercial Leadership, flagging risk and acceleration opportunities early.

Client Relationship Management
  • Account Ownership: serve as the primary point of contact for Brio and Insights clients from first conversation through renewal, ensuring a strong client experience that supports retention and expansion.
  • Patient-Centered Selling: bring the patient voice into every pitch. Bionews' key differentiator is the ability to bring real patients directly into client conversations so lived experience shapes strategy and messaging.

Market & Competitive Intelligence
  • Competitive Tracking: track the competitive landscape for rare disease market research and patient insights platforms, and share intelligence that sharpens Bionews' positioning.
  • Industry Presence: represent Bionews Insights and Brio at relevant industry conferences and events to build market awareness ahead of and following launch.

Key Deliverables
Weekly
  • Maintain up-to-date Salesforce pipeline, activity logging, and next-step tracking for all active opportunities.
  • Conduct prospecting outreach, discovery calls, and Brio platform demos against a defined activity target.
Monthly
  • Deliver a forecast and pipeline review to Commercial Leadership.
  • Close new Brio subscriptions and/or Insights engagements against monthly targets.
  • Share client and market feedback with the Insights/Brio product team to inform packaging and roadmap.
Quarterly
  • Meet or exceed quarterly revenue and new-logo targets for Insights and Brio.
  • Present a quarterly business review covering pipeline health, win/loss trends, and competitive intelligence.
  • Partner with Marketing on account-based campaigns and launch content supporting target accounts.
Annual
  • Meet or exceed annual Insights/Brio revenue targets as part of Bionews' broader revenue diversification strategy.
  • Contribute to annual territory, pricing, and packaging planning based on a full year of market feedback.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Relevant Sales Experience: 8+ years of quota-carrying sales experience in pharma market research, insights, life sciences data, or SaaS platform sales, ideally selling into medical affairs, market research/insights, or brand teams, with a track record of operating at a senior, executive-facing level.
  • Pharma Insights Acumen: demonstrated understanding of how pharma and biotech companies evaluate and procure market research and patient insights solutions.
  • Track Record: consistent track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas, with strong pipeline and forecast discipline.
  • New Product Launch Experience: comfort and creativity selling a brand-new, subscription-based platform into a market with entrenched vendors, including shaping positioning as it evolves.
  • Communication Excellence: exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to run compelling platform demos and executive-level conversations.
  • Mission Alignment (preferred): genuine interest in and alignment with the rare disease community and Bionews' patient-centered mission.
