Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Rigel Pharmaceuticals, a pioneering biopharma company based in South San Francisco, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Director to join the Commercial Analytics team, part of Business Operations. The role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to Rigel's commercial success and to grow with the company as we continue our growth trajectory.
The Associate Director, Commercial Data Management & Data Operations will support the data infrastructure, data aggregation, data warehousing, and data operational management of commercial data assets supporting Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, Finance, and Commercial Analytics. This role is responsible for ensuring the organization's commercial data ecosystem is scalable, accurate, compliant, and capable of supporting business decision-making, field execution, product launches, and AI-driven initiatives.
In addition, this role will be responsible for orchestrating the quarterly business reviews working closely with cross-functional partners and the commercial leadership team to gather and report on the data relevant to the performance of all in-line products. The role will also be responsible for leading the matrixed analytics team meetings ensuring efficiencies and coordination across the functional areas.
The position serves as the primary business owner for commercial data assets and will work closely with cross-functional partners and external data vendors. This position requires strong business acumen, analytical skills, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Salary Range: $200,000 to $240,000
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Aggregation and Data Warehousing
  • Support commercial data aggregation processes across internal data sources including Specialty Pharmacy (SP), Hub, Specialty Distributors (SD), Copay, GPOs, 3PL.
  • Oversee onboarding of new data sources and vendor integrations. Lead Data Operations inclusive of data procurement, data integration into data warehouse (DW), data operations and governance.
  • Support efforts in the development/optimization of the commercial data warehouse to ensure data is accessible to cross functional stakeholders and is aligned with business needs.

Data Operations and Master Data Management
  • Manage Customer, HCP, HCO, Account, Affiliations Payer, Specialty Pharmacy, and Patient Services master data assets across multiple vendors.
  • Manage operational processes for commercial data acquisition, validation, transformation, and delivery.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of reference data across commercial systems. Ensure that data deliverables are accurate, complete, and timely and that they are curated in a compliant manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring data integrity and data quality and conducting periodic data control audits
  • Proactively resolve data issues and communicate status to all users in a timely manner. Address data related inquiries from stakeholder groups
  • Support contract reviews, management of TPAs, licensing, compliance

Analytics
  • Lead coordination of quarterly business reviews ensuring appropriate analytics are delivered across the functional areas to support in-line product reviews
  • Lead the CAT (Commercial Analytics Team) meetings to ensure efficiency and coordination of the matrixed analytics leads in the development and delivery of insights to the organization

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years or Master's degree/PhD
  • Required: Experience within pharma/biotech/health care industries and/or related industries
  • Preferred: Prior experience managing large scale Commercial, Sales, or Trade / Contracting operations projects and outputs.
  • Preferred; Possess deep understanding of life sciences commercial data, including SP/SD data, claims, prescriber and non-prescriber data, affiliations, sales operations data and systems (SFDC, Veeva, other CRM systems)

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of information, extract insights, and prepare project plans to provide strategic solutions
  • Experience developing and executing data and analytic solutions to address key business questions with measurable outcomes and insights.
  • Possess strong critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Solid project management and decision-making skills
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Solid experience with utilizing analytical software/tools (e.g. SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI etc.). Proficiency in MS Office applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IT processes including User Requirements gathering, Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts and articulate them to audiences across different levels of the organization in a simple understandable manner
  • Solid organizational, project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Proven success in managing and partnering with peers, internal stakeholders and external vendors.
