Job description

Description
This lead role will report to the Emergency Services Manager and Emergency Services Medical Director. This position is 40 hours+ each week.
  • Internal Applicants
    • Maintain 24 hour shifts with every 3 day rotation or move to (4) 12 hour shifts per week, which will include holidays and weekends.
    • Requirement to flex schedule to work with each team/month
  • External Applicants
    • This role will be (4) 12 hour shifts per week (0600-1800)
    • This role will also include a holiday and weekend obligation to be determined by the Emergency Services Manager and the needs of the department.

Role Expectations
  • Lead a skilled EMS crew
  • Will assist with policies and procedures under the direction of the Emergency Services Manager and EMS Medical Director.
  • Ensures ambulances units are maintained and inventory is completed on a monthly basis
  • Collaborates with the Emergency Services Manager in recruiting and retaining current EMS team members.
  • Develops and maintains a robust EMS education program
  • Develops and maintains a EMS Quality Program
  • Provides constructive feedback to the EMS team
  • Assists with conducting EMS staff meetings
  • Demonstrates consistent adherence to the Regional Medical Center Standards of Behavior.
  • Assists the Emergency Services Manager with performance reviews
  • Assists the Emergency Services Manager with other assigned tasks and completes in a timely manner
  • Assists the Emergency Services Manager with the following but not limited to:
    • Payroll
    • Employee recognition
    • Employee orientation
    • Contract and Service agreements
    • EMS schedules
  • Participates in leadership growth opportunities
  • Exhibits excellent customer service to patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers
  • Demonstrates flexibility in the work environment
  • 3 Paramedic crew with EMT
  • Prehospital 911 response, Paramedic Tiering with outlying services, Interfacility transports
  • Hospital based service, based in ER, providing support facility wide
  • Aggressive treatment protocols with proactive Medical Director
  • Up to date equipment: Lifepak 35, LUCAS III, CMAC-PM, EZ-IO, Stryker PowerPro, Stryker Power-LOAD, Powertraxx, Wi-Fi in ambulances with real time documentation on laptops

Requirements
  • Paramedic certification in State of Iowa
  • 3 years of Paramedic experience (preferred)
  • Current BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
  • NRP Certification within one year of hire
  • Valid Iowa driver's license and acceptable driving record required. (Click here for details.)

  • De-escalation trained within one year of hire
  • Critical Care Paramedic Certification preferred
