Senior Director Climate and Energy

Position Summary:

The Senior Director Climate and Energy, leads climate, energy, and decarbonization initiatives, across the America’s Region by translating the Sustainability Strategy and CSR Roadmap into measurable actions across energy management, emissions reduction, and renewable energy. This role will focus on site energy audits, KPI tracking, implementing the energy management framework and renewable electricity policies, supporting SBTi and CDP reporting, and improving data reliability. This position
collaborates with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure compliance, cost efficiency, carbon reduction, and alignment with global CSR goals.

Your role on the team:

  • Manage the regional roadmap supporting 2030 Scope 1 and Scope 2 reduction goals.
  • Support performance reviews against the 2022 baseline and 2030 objectives.
  • Update the 2030 roadmap with financial, technical, CapEx, and OpEx inputs.
  • Support SBTi restatement and related ToF and NIND planning.
  • Build practical decarbonization plans for energy efficiency, natural gas, refrigerants, electrification, renewable electricity, and operations.
  • Convert sustainability goals into annual plans, site actions, budgets, KPIs, timelines, and executive updates.
  • Align Americas execution with CSR, SBTi, CDP, EcoVadis, CSRD, ISO 14083, customer reporting, and corporate requirements.
  • Monitor climate trends, utility cost risks, renewable electricity markets, carbon accounting, and new regulations.
  • Support execution of the 2026 CSR Roadmap across climate, energy, adaptation, reporting, culture, safety, customer value, and resources.
  • Drive second-half 2026 priorities, including energy audits, KPI follow-up, energy savings planning, renewable electricity policy, and the energy management framework.
  • Finalize energy audits and convert findings into energy conservation measures.
  • Develop the energy savings plan by line of business and region.
  • Coordinate roadmap execution with CSR, Real Estate, Purchasing, Finance, D&T, Operations, H&S, HR, and site teams.
  • Support CDP, EcoVadis, CSRD reporting, verification audits, business cases, best practices, and leadership updates.
  • Own the regional energy audit program for high-priority Americas sites.
  • Lead site screening, benchmarking, utility data review, audit prioritization, field assessments, and ECM tracking.
  • Conduct and manage energy audits and convert findings into funded projects.
  • Maintain the Americas energy management framework and energy project pipeline.
  • Track projects for HVAC, lighting, compressed air, refrigeration, controls, docks, building envelope, and equipment upgrades.
  • Verify energy savings, emissions reductions, ROI, and operational benefits after project completion.
  • Build SOPs for energy reviews, site walkthroughs, utility data validation, ECM tracking, KPI follow up, and closeout.
  • Manage the Americas REC strategy with Procurement, Finance, Legal, Sustainability, and business units.
  • Support renewable electricity policy, REC forecasting, RFPs, budgets, eligibility review, chargebacks, and reporting.
  • Evaluate solar, landlord-hosted renewables, green tariffs, PPAs, utility programs, and leased-site energy barriers.
  • Support climate adaptation through risk reviews, field assessments, AdapTool V2, training, KPI follow-up, and site action planning.
  • Translate climate risks into heat stress, flood, stormwater, emergency response, backup power, and resilience actions.
  • Audit and validate CSR data before submission to GARI/Gary or other reporting systems.
  • Establish pre-submission controls for completeness, accuracy, source documentation, calculations, units, approvals, and audit trail.
  • Improve reporting through GARI, Power BI, GAP, SIRIUS, dashboards, scorecards, automation, and data quality awareness.
  • Support refrigerant leakage reporting, air pollution reporting, resource management, environmental compliance, safety risk reviews, and 10 major risk assessments.
  • Build customer value, CSR culture, training, sustainability champions, business cases, best practice tools, governance, and site-level execution.
  • Travels frequently to GEODIS sites and routinely interacts with personnel to monitor climate, energy, CSR, environmental, and data validation activities.
  • Supports regulatory, customer, internal, and third-party audits when assigned.
  • Supports corrective action processes relevant to energy, climate, CSR reporting, compliance, and project execution.
  • Provides budget inputs for energy audits, renewable energy, decarbonization projects, reporting systems, training, and ongoing sustainability activities.
  • Advises regional leadership on climate, energy, environmental, data, reporting, and project risks.

What you need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Energy Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
  • 7–10 years of experience in energy, environmental compliance, EHS, engineering, facilities, logistics, or operations.
  • Proven expertise in energy project management, program development, audits, action plans, dashboards, and carbon reduction strategies
  • Experience supporting energy savings plans, renewable electricity policy, REC strategy, SBTi, CDP, and emissions reduction planning.
  • Experience auditing, validating, reconciling, quality-checking CSR, ESG, environmental, energy, emissions, waste, utility, or safety data before reporting submission.
  • Strong knowledge of EPA, OSHA, Cal/OSHA and environmental reporting requirements for air quality, waste, refrigerants, and stormwater.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills, including utility trend analysis, emissions calculations, cost modeling and KPI reporting.
  • Proficient in developing SOPs, risk assessments, project and training plans/materials, and executive updates.
  • Ability to support safety risk assessments, management of change reviews, corrective action plans, and project risk controls.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and independent working abilities, with excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and data reporting tools.
  • Ability to travel for audits, training, site support, customer meetings, and project reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations affecting organizational policies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to read, interpret, analyze, and assimilate regulations, technical documents, and safety procedures.
  • Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and delivering clear presentations to managers, customers, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems, apply project management principles, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
