They work with children and their families to promote emotional, social, and intellectual growth through play-based, interactive sessions. The therapist follows the child's interests and uses these moments to help the child build relationships, communication, and thinking skills. DIR stands for Developmental, Individual-differences, and Relationship-based, reflecting the core principles of this approach.
