Job description

We are seeking an experienced Pattern Maker to join our growing team serving the marine and powersports industries. This role is responsible for developing accurate production patterns for custom and OEM boat covers, powersports covers, travel covers, storage covers, and related sewn products.

The ideal candidate combines technical pattern-making expertise with a strong understanding of fabrication methods, fit, function, and manufacturability. This position works closely with Product Development, Engineering, Sewing, Cutting, and Production teams to ensure products meet customer expectations for fit, durability, weather protection, and appearance while supporting efficient manufacturing processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Create, develop, and maintain production-ready patterns for marine and powersports covers and related products.
  • Convert physical samples, hand templates, CAD files, engineering drawings, and product specifications into accurate manufacturing patterns.
  • Develop and validate patterns for new products and model-year changes.
  • Perform fit evaluations and identify improvements to product performance, appearance, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Engineering, and Production teams throughout the development process.
  • Create and maintain pattern documentation, specifications, revision histories, and work instructions.
  • Optimize material utilization while maintaining product quality and performance standards.
  • Support prototype development and oversee pattern revisions based on testing and field feedback.
  • Troubleshoot fit, assembly, and production issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure patterns account for stretch characteristics, seam allowances, reinforcements, and hardware locations.
  • Maintain an organized pattern library and version-control process.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
QualificationsRequired
  • 3+ years of pattern-making experience in sewn products, upholstery, marine, automotive, powersports, or related manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of pattern development, grading, and production processes.
  • Experience interpreting technical specifications and product drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
  • Experience in marine, powersports, automotive, or industrial fabric products.
  • Experience with CAD pattern-making software.
  • Knowledge of marine fabrics, coated textiles, vinyls, webbings, fasteners, and hardware systems.
  • Experience with digitizing, plotting, and nesting software.
  • Understanding of sewing, cutting, and assembly processes.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Pattern Making, Product Development, Industrial Design, or related field.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to move throughout manufacturing and production areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to perform measurements and inspections of large products and prototypes.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and work around boats, powersports units, and prototype fixtures as needed.
