Graphic Designer Teamsters Headquarters, Washington DC

Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters is North Americaโ€™s strongest union, representing more than 1.3 million hardworking people in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.

The Strategic Initiatives Department is integral to the Teamstersโ€™ mission, overseeing communications, research, economics, capital strategies, and the Teamsters History Project. The department equips Teamsters affiliates with essential resources to excel in organizing, public relations, contract campaigns, audience expansion, and enhancing public perception.

Position Summary:

Graphic Designer assists with digital and print design, including website development, social media strategy, digital content development, preparing materials for the web and print, website marketing, e-activism, and new technologies integration. Based in Washington, DC, this position operates full-time and in-person from the unionโ€™s headquarters.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Uses computer and traditional design equipment to design and produce publications and other visual aids.
  • Produces, in a timely manner, educational, advocacy, and instructional printed materials.
  • Takes a project from concept to finished product, with creativity and sensitivity to appropriateness and effectiveness for the audience.
  • Works with in-house graphic design staff and printers.
  • Learns, uses, and assists others with computer software and equipment.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as related to the position and assigned by the Director, Strategic Initiatives Department, or designee(s).
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent experience required.
  • College level coursework in graphic design preferred.
  • One to three yearsโ€™ design experience required.
  • Ability to read and write in Spanish desirable.
  • Knowledge of labor unions and/or communications departments or organizations preferred.

Starting salary range is $66,646.00 - $78,506.00, plus FICA reimbursement, 100% employer-paid health & welfare plan, pension, optional 401(k), FSA, and vacation & sick leave.
