Job description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you’ll build

As Senior Director, U.S. Government Affairs, you will shape and execute SAP’s federal engagement strategy to advance federal IT modernization, commercial cloud and AI adoption, and digital government transformation. You will translate policy and acquisition developments into actionable insights for U.S. Public Sector sales and leadership; support engagement with federal agencies and key congressional committees; represent SAP in industry coalitions and working groups; and proactively remove procurement and policy barriers to business growth. Your work will directly influence federal funding and appropriations priorities and position SAP solutions, including SAP Sovereign Cloud and RISE, for success in the U.S. federal market.

Senior Director, U.S. Government Affairs — Washington, D.C. (Travel ~15–20%)

What you bring

  • 12+ years’ experience in committee or agency budget/processes, federal appropriations, government affairs, or public sector technology strategy.
  • Deep expertise in federal acquisition and procurement frameworks.
  • Proven track record engaging senior policymakers, agency technology leaders, and congressional staff; with established relationships across relevant agencies and committees.
  • Experience translating public policy into commercial go-to-market strategy and supporting enabling public sector sales execution.
  • Strong strategic judgment, executive presence, and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build coalitions and operate effectively in complex policy and business environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (JD, MPP, MBA) preferred.

Where you belong

You’ll join SAP Global Government Affairs working at the intersection of policy, business strategy, and technology, in close collaboration with U.S. Public Sector sales and Product teams. SAP Global Government Affairs values strategic influence, cross-functional partnership, and pragmatic advocacy to drive business outcomes. This role suits a seasoned leader who combines policy expertise with commercial acumen and thrives engaging government stakeholders and senior business leaders.
