How much do freelance security jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 11, 2026, the average hourly pay for freelance security in the United States is $47.71, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $24.28 and $61.78 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Can you be a freelance security guard?

Yes, it is possible to work as a freelance security guard, often by contracting directly with clients or through security staffing agencies. Freelance security guards typically need relevant certifications, such as a security guard license, and may require skills in surveillance, access control, and emergency response. Regulations and licensing requirements vary by location and jurisdiction.

Can freelance security offer job security?

Freelance security professionals typically do not have guaranteed job security, as their work depends on client demand and project availability. They often work on short-term contracts and need to continuously seek new opportunities, though building a strong reputation and specialized skills can improve stability over time.

What is a freelance security?

A Freelance Security job involves providing independent security services on a contract basis rather than working for a single employer. Freelance security professionals may offer services such as risk assessments, event security, cybersecurity consulting, or personal protection. They typically work with multiple clients, setting their own schedules and rates. This role requires strong expertise, relevant certifications, and the ability to adapt to different security needs.

What types of clients and assignments do freelance security professionals typically work with?

Freelance security professionals often work with a diverse range of clients, such as corporate offices, event organizers, private individuals, and small businesses. Assignments may include site patrols, access control, event security, risk assessments, or personal protection, depending on the client's needs. The nature of freelance work allows for flexible scheduling and control over the types of jobs accepted, but it also requires adaptability to different settings and client expectations. Networking and consistently delivering high-quality service can help build a strong reputation and lead to repeat business or long-term contracts.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in freelance security?

To thrive as a Freelance Security professional, you need a comprehensive understanding of security protocols, risk assessment, and incident response, usually backed by relevant experience or formal training in security services. Familiarity with surveillance equipment, two-way communication devices, and security management software, as well as certifications like CPP (Certified Protection Professional) or state security licenses, is often required. Excellent communication, situational awareness, and the ability to remain calm under pressure help freelance security specialists stand out. These skills and qualifications ensure the safety of people and property, enable effective issue resolution, and help build trust with clients in dynamic environments.

Job description

Netchannels Marketing is looking for a Graphic Designer, freelancer.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Create new Brochures, Pamphlets, PowerPoint presentations, and media reels for Project Shield America

Project Shield America is a Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) outreach and enforcement program that helps prevent illicit exports of sensitive U.S. military and dual‑use technology to foreign adversaries, terrorists, and criminal networks.
Shield America builds partnerships with private industry and the academic community—especially companies and institutions involved in high‑technology research, development, production, and export. Agents conduct outreach briefings, training sessions, and “red flag” awareness on suspicious export inquiries, helping organizations recognize and report attempts to illegally acquire export‑controlled commodities, technology, and technical data.
The program complements direct enforcement activities, including inspections of outbound shipments and joint operations that seize export‑controlled items such as riflescopes, thermal optics, and other controlled hardware being diverted overseas illegally.
This position can be anywhere in the USA
