Job description

Innovative Engineering and Consulting is a civil engineering design, consulting, and land surveying firm located in Whitestown, Indiana. Our clients are located throughout Indiana and nationally. Our office is conveniently located off I-65. Our projects range from small commercial and retail, industrial, large residential and mixed-use developments. We have a fast-paced and adaptable team-based work environment with experienced staff for support. We value life-work balance. Our mission is to provide our clients with the best possible professional design and consulting that meets their needs and satisfaction.

The Survey Field Party Chief is a full-time permanent position and is an integral part of the day-to-day operations between the survey department and design department. The individual in this position will interact with staff, consultants, and clients as instructed by the Director of Engineering and senior management. The work environment will require the individual to work alone and within small teams on a variety of tasks. This is a field position which requires the ability to work with variable weather conditions and extremes. You must be able to walk distances, operate power equipment safely, and maintain equipment daily. You will direct other members of the field survey team and be required to supervise the accurate collection of digital field data. Some office work will be required as directed by management.

Engineering Support

  • Collect accurate existing site conditions to be used in developing survey documents and as a base for site design including but not limited to topographic information, underground utilities (especially storm and sanitary sewers), thorough collection of surface and above ground utilities and features necessary for high quality site design
  • Supervise and instruct other field crew members in the accurate collection of field data as set forth by the Registered Land Surveyor
  • Maintain accurate, properly collected, and coded digital data from the field throughout the project life cycle
  • Experience with exporting and importing points from and to the field
  • Ability to calculate points for construction field staking
  • Have familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D for point calculations and light editing of drawing data as required to create accurate field data models for the Survey CAD Technician
  • Have familiarity with creating a variety of surveys and survey documents
  • Other tasks that may be assigned

Education and Experience Requirement

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A plus if you have an associates degree in surveying
  • 3-5 years of experience with field data collecting
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Survey Party Chief
  • Microsoft; Outlook, Excel, and Word

  • Hourly position based on a 40-hour week Monday through Friday
