Job Description Position Title: Senior Business Development Manager - Industrial Automation & Controls Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid / Mostly Remote) Industry: Systems Integration - Energy, Utilities, Agriculture, and Food & Beverage Employment Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire Position Overview A Houston-based industrial systems integrator is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to lead growth initiatives across automation, control engineering, and field installation services. This individual will play a key role in identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients in the Energy, Utilities, Agriculture, and Food & Beverage sectors. This is a hybrid role that offers flexibility to work remotely with periodic in-office collaboration and client visits.

Approximately 20% travel is required, with all travel expenses covered by the company. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute strategies to secure new projects involving industrial automation, controls design, installation, programming, and commissioning. Research target markets and identify high-value opportunities through direct outreach, networking, and digital channels.

Build and maintain trusted relationships with key decision-makers, including Engineering Managers, Operations Leaders, OT Network Administrators, and SCADA teams. Prepare and deliver professional presentations, proposals, and technical discussions that clearly outline the company's capabilities. Maintain close communication with internal engineering and project teams to ensure smooth handoff of awarded projects.

Track opportunities, client interactions, and pipeline progress through the company's CRM system. Represent the organization at trade shows, industry conferences, and networking events. Consistently meet or exceed annual sales and revenue targets.

What You'll Bring Proven experience in industrial automation, systems integration, or control system sales, ideally within Energy or Water/Wastewater environments. Solid understanding of industrial control system architecture, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and communication networks. Demonstrated success in prospecting, relationship-building, and closing technical sales.

Ability to connect with both field personnel and executive leadership within client organizations. Strong presentation, negotiation, and written communication skills. Comfort working independently while collaborating effectively with internal technical teams.

Preferred Background Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience. 5+ years of business development or technical sales experience in automation, controls, or electrical engineering services. Experience with Oil & Gas, Water/Wastewater, or Industrial Manufacturing clients is highly desirable.
