Job description

NOV is seeking a results-oriented and technically focused Business Development Manager (BDM) to drive revenue growth and expand market penetration for the NOV Digital Services business unit. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic sales initiatives that accelerate adoption of NOV's digital products, software solutions, and data-driven technologies across oil & gas and emerging industrial markets.

The ideal candidate is a high-performing sales leader with a proven ability to generate new revenue streams, develop strategic customer relationships, and close complex technical sales opportunities. This individual must be capable of identifying and capturing opportunities both within existing NOV accounts and in new industries outside traditional oil & gas markets.

This position requires a consultative commercial professional with strong presentation and communication skills, the ability to articulate the business value of digital transformation, and the technical aptitude to quickly learn software platforms, analytics tools, and operational technologies. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with product management, engineering, operations, and commercial teams to deliver innovative digital solutions that improve customer performance, efficiency, and operational visibility while contributing directly to NOV's revenue and growth objectives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute aggressive business development and sales strategies to drive revenue growth, increase market share, and expand adoption of NOV Digital Services solutions.
  • Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities across oil & gas and adjacent industries including industrial, energy transition, manufacturing, utilities, mining, and infrastructure sectors.
  • Build and grow a robust sales pipeline through strategic prospecting, account development, networking, and relationship management.
  • Drive sales of digital products, software platforms, analytics solutions, automation technologies, and data-driven services by delivering clear business value to customers.
  • Expand revenue opportunities within existing customer accounts while developing new logos and market segments.
  • Lead complex commercial engagements from opportunity identification through proposal development, negotiation, and contract closure.
  • Deliver impactful customer presentations, technical demonstrations, and executive-level business discussions that clearly communicate ROI and operational benefits.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, data analytics, and operations teams to develop tailored customer solutions that support revenue generation and customer retention.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product positioning, business expansion, and increased profitability.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reporting, account plans, and CRM activity to support regional and organizational revenue targets.
  • Represent NOV at industry events, trade shows, conferences, and customer engagements to strengthen brand presence and generate new business opportunities.

FACILITY / GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and grow strategic customer accounts with a focus on long-term commercial success and account expansion.
  • Develop and execute account growth strategies to maximize customer value and recurring revenue opportunities.
  • Support customer onboarding and successful adoption of digital products and services to improve retention and satisfaction.
  • Develop technical knowledge of NOV Digital Services platforms, software tools, analytics capabilities, and operational technologies.
  • Support customer solution design discussions and identify opportunities for workflow optimization and operational improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal technical and commercial teams to ensure successful project execution and customer outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing training and continuous development related to digital technologies, software solutions, analytics, and industrial applications.
  • Support additional strategic growth initiatives and commercial projects as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related field; equivalent industry experience considered.
  • 5-10 years of experience in business development, technical sales, enterprise sales, account management, or solution selling within industrial, energy, technology, or oil & gas sectors.
  • Demonstrated success achieving or exceeding revenue targets and developing new business opportunities in a B2B environment.
  • Proven experience selling technical, software, SaaS, analytics, automation, or digital transformation solutions preferred.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify growth opportunities and develop revenue-generating strategies.
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and executive-level decision-makers.
  • Strong understanding of industrial operations, operational technologies, and data-driven business solutions.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently and drive business growth in evolving markets.
