Job Description:
Department: Supply Chain / Operations Planning
Reports To: Director of Supply Chain
Location: Tampa, FL or other Crown location with travel to manufacturing sites (multi-site network)
Job Type: Full-time, Exempt/Salaried
Job Summary
The Sales and Operations Execution (S&OE) Manager is responsible for the tactical, short-term execution of supply plans to meet customer demand with high service levels, optimal inventory, and efficient operations. This role bridges the medium-term S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) process with day-to-day/weekly operational execution (typically 0-13 week horizon).
The primary focus is managing the execution of supply to meet demand by developing robust and standardized processes across a network of manufacturing facilities. The S&OE Manager indirectly leads a team of Planners and/or Schedulers who develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS), optimize finished goods (FG) inventory levels, and balance demand, capacity, and supply constraints.
A key accountability is driving standardization, best practices, and continuous improvement in planning and scheduling processes across the multi-site network to ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability. The role works closely with the S&OP team (for plan handoff and reconciliation), Operations (for execution feasibility and capacity management), and Customer Service (for order prioritization, backlog management, and service-level performance).
This is a hands-on leadership position that requires strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration, and a data-driven approach to resolve short-term supply-demand imbalances while minimizing costs and risks.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Planners and/or Schedulers responsible for creating and maintaining the Master Production Schedule (MPS), analyzing material and capacity requirements, and optimizing finished goods inventory levels to balance service, cost, and working capital. Oversee execution of the master plan through detailed weekly/daily scheduling, shop-floor sequencing, and real-time adjustments to ensure on-time production and delivery.
- The planners/schedulers will have a dotted-line relationship initially so it will require an understanding of how to influence change without direct oversight. This position will work directly with the Director of Supply Chain to develop a vision for organizational alignment going forward.
- Build high-performing teams through talent development, performance management, succession planning, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Allocate resources effectively across the network and ensure clear roles, responsibilities, and handoffs between central planning and site-level execution.
Supply Execution & Demand-Supply Balancing
- Own the end-to-end S&OE process: translate S&OP outputs into executable short-term supply plans, monitor execution against the plan, and drive rapid resolution of gaps (e.g., demand spikes, supply disruptions, capacity constraints).
- Optimize finished goods inventory through safety stock modeling, excess/obsolete management, and inventory health metrics while achieving target service levels (e.g., OTIF - On Time In Full).
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as schedule adherence, production attainment, inventory turns, forecast accuracy (short-term horizon), and customer service levels; take corrective actions as needed.
- Facilitate weekly S&OE review meetings to review short-term demand signals, supply constraints, and trade-offs; escalate issues requiring S&OP-level decisions.
Standardization & Continuous Improvement
- Drive standardization of master planning, scheduling, and S&OE processes, tools, and templates across all manufacturing facilities to reduce variability and improve efficiency.
- Lead process improvement initiatives, including implementation of advanced planning systems (APS), ERP enhancements (e.g., SAP, Oracle), automation of scheduling routines, and adoption of best practices (e.g., Lean, DDMRP, or IBP frameworks where applicable).
- Establish governance, KPIs, and maturity models for planning and execution; conduct regular audits and performance reviews of site-level adherence.
- Champion digital transformation and data quality initiatives to enhance visibility, scenario planning, and decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with the S&OP team to ensure seamless handoff from tactical/strategic planning to execution and provide feedback on plan feasibility and gaps.
- Work hand-in-hand with Operations leadership to align capacity plans, resolve bottlenecks, and support new product introductions or promotions.
- Collaborate with Customer Service to prioritize orders, manage backlog, communicate delays, and maintain high customer satisfaction.
- Interface with other functions including Procurement, Quality, Finance, and Sales to support integrated decision-making and risk mitigation.
Performance & Reporting
- Develop and deliver executive-level reports and dashboards on S&OE performance, inventory optimization, and supply execution risks.
- Conduct root-cause analysis on deviations and implement preventive measures.
- Support annual budgeting, capacity planning, and long-range supply network strategy, as it relates to execution capabilities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. APICS CPIM, CSCP, or ASCM certifications are preferred.
- Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in supply chain planning, master scheduling, or production planning within a manufacturing environment. At least 3-5 years in a leadership role managing teams of planners/schedulers. Multi-site or global manufacturing network experience is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Deep expertise in Master Production Scheduling (MPS), inventory optimization, and finite/infinite scheduling. Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) tools. Strong Excel/data analytics skills; Power BI/Tableau experience a plus.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of S&OP/S&OE frameworks, demand-driven planning, Lean/Six Sigma principles, and supply chain metrics. Familiarity with multi-site manufacturing operations, capacity planning, and network optimization.
Key Competencies & Skills
- Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to influence without direct authority in a matrix environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities under time pressure.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills; comfortable presenting to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Results-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to drive change across a network.
- High attention to detail combined with strategic thinking.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
- Travel: 25% (heavier up front to establish team relationships).
What Success Looks Like
- Supply execution consistently meets or exceeds customer demand with >95% OTIF and on-plan production adherence.
- Finished goods inventory is optimized (target turns/service balance achieved) with minimal excess or stockouts.
- Standardized processes are adopted network-wide, leading to measurable efficiency gains and reduced planning cycle time.
- Strong collaboration results in proactive issue resolution and positive feedback from S&OP, Operations, and Customer Service partners.
- Team develops and retains top talent; planning maturity and capabilities improve year-over-year.
- This role is ideal for a supply chain professional passionate about operational excellence, team leadership, and turning strategic plans into flawless execution in a complex manufacturing network. Compensation typically includes competitive base salary, performance bonus, and benefits aligned with industry standards (varies by company/location).

No one understands this imperative more than Crown. For the last 130 years, we have embodied the values of sustainability, both in terms of what we make and how we make it. Our primary product is metal packaging, which is inherently sustainable, and our operations are based on continuous improvement, efficiency, safety and resource management. We continue to elevate our sustainability commitments and seek to drive meaningful change in collaboration with our customers, suppliers and the industry at large. In addition, our extensive global footprint and track record of innovation helps customers bring their products to market and tell their unique stories in bold, unforgettable ways. The result is lasting value for our customers in terms of strengthened market presence, consumer loyalty and progress against their sustainability goals. With 200 plants in 40 countries, we are uniquely positioned to support customers in surging beverage cans markets in the Americas and Southeast Asia as well as historically strong geographies such as Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Today, aluminum beverage cans, the world’s most sustainable and dynamic packaging format, represent more than 60% of our business. Across the globe, the format is witnessing historic levels of growth. In North America alone, approximately 75% of new beverage launches now appear in cans – more than double the rate of just five years ago. Our diverse product portfolio is rounded out by a strong North American tinplate business, supporting the food, beverage and personal care markets, and our Transit Packaging segment, which provides critical in-transit protection to high-value, high-volume goods across multiple industries. Our Asia Pacific segment also includes non-beverage can operations, primarily food cans and promotional packaging. With confidence in the positive trajectory of our key markets, we are strategically expanding our geographic footprint by breaking ground on new facilities, adding lines in existing facilities to increase capacity and enhancing customer service, support and innovation. These investments also help advance our product portfolio and graphics capabilities to stay ahead of market trends.
