Job Title: Race4Chase Coach

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Race 4 Chase Coach will be responsible for helping in all aspects of the program beginning in June and ending in August. Under the guidance of the head coach, the Coach will be responsible for helping plan and implement all program activities that are relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consist with the YMCA core values. Under the direction of the Youth Development Director and the Head Coach, the Race 4 Chase Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach with planning trainings and meeting the goals of the program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Under the direction of the Youth Development Director and the Head Coach, the Race 4 Chase Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach with planning trainings and meeting the goals of the program
  2. Supervise all children in the program
  3. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness
  4. Follows the YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies
  5. Be able to exercise proper judgment when dealing with a group of children and staff members
  6. Must be able to be open and receptive to constructive criticism when it is for the benefit of the program or the staff members growth and development
  7. Attend all planning meetings
  8. Participate in all planned activity areas including swimming
  9. Maintain highest safety standards at all times
  10. Be a positive role model for all Race 4 Chase participants
  11. Assist on Field trips
  12. Participate in all midsummer evaluations
  13. Schedule special guest speakers for participants
  14. Keep all areas used by Race 4 Chase programs clean and well maintained so it is suitable for staff, campers and families
  15. Perform all other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 16 years old.
  • 1 year of coaching at any level.
  • CPR/First Aide certified.
  • USA Triathlon certified is a plus!

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

  • Ability to walk, run, ride a bike, and swim.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds in weight.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
  • Must be able to actively run, ride a bike, swim well, jump, and lift a minimum of 1/3 their own body weight.
