Job description

Reporting to the President/CEO, the Senior Director of Development is responsible for creating and providing leadership to a comprehensive and cost-effective fundraising program, encompassing annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, special events, memorial giving, and other initiatives including capital campaigns to attract maximum support from Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth Health constituency of individuals, businesses, foundations and community organizations. As the chief development officer of Cheshire Medical Center and the Cheshire Health Foundation, responsible for the successful operations of the Cheshire Health Foundation.

Required Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred with 10 years of Philanthropy experience and management experience. A proven track record in identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts.  Thorough knowledge of the various methods of charitable giving and of the legal and tax implications of both current and planned gifts.  Ability and willingness both to work as part of a team and to operate autonomously while keeping CEO, staff, Board and volunteers apprised of issues, problems, opportunities and progress.  Must be able to independently and without supervision manage a complex organization through strong analytical, planning and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to speak in front of groups. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) preferred.
