About the Role
House of Hope is seeking a mission-driven
Development Director to lead fundraising and grant development efforts that strengthen the organizations financial stability and long-term impact. This role is ideal for a strategic relationship-builder who can secure public and private funding, expand donor engagement, and ensure strong stewardship of contributed resources.
Reporting to the
Chief Executive Officer, the Development Director will design, implement, and monitor a comprehensive annual fundraising strategy aligned with organizational priorities, funder expectations, and sound governance practices. The successful candidate will bring strong writing, planning, and collaboration skills to help advance House of Hopes mission through sustainable revenue growth.
What Youll Do
Partner with the Chief Executive Officer to develop, execute, and evaluate the annual fundraising and development plan
Research, write, submit, and manage grant proposals and funding requests to foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individual donors
Identify and assess local, state, and federal funding opportunities that align with organizational programs and priorities
Oversee the full grant lifecycle, including submissions, deadlines, compliance, reporting, renewals, and closeout documentation
Maintain adherence to funder guidelines and reporting timelines to protect funding eligibility and organizational accountability
Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, community partners, and alumni in alignment with House of Hopes mission and values
Support development communications, including newsletters, annual reports, donor materials, and campaign messaging
Help grow digital fundraising efforts through online engagement, email outreach, and social media support as resources allow
Coordinate fundraising events and special initiatives, including occasional evening or weekend participation when needed
What You Bring
Education
Bachelors degree preferred in Business, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field
Experience
At least
1 year of grant writing experience required
At least
5 years of professional fundraising or development experience required
Experience in behavioral health, nonprofit services, or human services strongly preferred
Skills & Strengths
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with design or publishing tools such as Publisher or Adobe InDesign is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including persuasive grant and donor communications
Highly organized with strong analytical, documentation, and project management abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and funding opportunities with accuracy and follow-through
Self-directed, dependable, and able to handle confidential information with sound judgment and discretion
Professional presence and commitment to ethical fundraising practices
Work Environment & Schedule
This is an in-person position; remote work is not available
Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, with 8-hour shifts
Occasional evening or weekend hours may be needed for events, donor activities, or special initiatives
