The Pre-Kindergarten Assistant Teacher assists in the planning and directing of operations of the assigned classroom to ensure Celebree mission, vision and values are upheld. Supports the Lead Teacher in delivering a high-quality, developmentally appropriate full-day prekindergarten program aligned with the Maryland Blueprint for the Future and Maryland Early Learning Standards. Supports classroom instruction, child supervision, documentation, and family engagement to ensure a safe, nurturing, and academically rich learning environment.

Essential Functions:
  • Support classroom management in compliance with all regulations, policies, and company standards.

  • Assist in implementing curriculum aligned with Maryland Early Learning Standards.

  • Support small group instruction, individualized learning, and child assessments.

  • Maintain accurate attendance, student records, documentation, and daily reports.

  • Reinforce literacy, math, and social-emotional development.

  • Supervise children during all activities using positive guidance techniques.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.

  • Support effective classroom transitions and engaging displays.

  • Communicate professionally and positively with families.

  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and Director to address classroom needs.

  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and school events.

  • Maintain confidentiality and a professional appearance at all times.

  • Complete required annual professional development (minimum 20 hours).

Physical Demands:
The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The job requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, lifting and carrying; ability to lift 50 pounds.


Education/Experience:
To qualify as an Assistant Teacher in an eligible private provider program, an educator must:
Required:
Option 1:
Hold a High School Diploma, AND
On or before July 1, 2027:
o Earn and maintain a Child Development Associate (CDA) - Preschool Designation, OR
o Hold an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development


OR Option 2 (Experience Pathway):
As of July 1, 2024, have documented experience actively providing early childhood education services for:
oMinimum 15 years
o At least 20 hours per week
o 180 days per year


Pay Scale:
$17-$25 per hour
