Position Description:

The Staff Development Accountant will be based in the Boston corporate office and will have responsibility for the accounting and financial reporting for our Development department. This role will be a hybrid model consisting of 2 days in the office and 3 days remote per week.

This position requires 1-3 years of real estate/construction experience as project accountant; Having Requisition/Draw process is preferred;

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for monthly close process
  • Prepare loan draws in collaboration with the development team, track receipts by funding sources and costs by budget category
  • Perform balance sheet account analysis and LIHTC basis analysis for cost certification
  • Review underlying documents related to acquisition and investor entry to properly account for the transaction
  • Maintain development general ledgers and sub ledgers for each property
  • Prepare financial reporting with supporting schedules for monthly review with project managers
  • Maintain intercompany ledgers for projects in consolidation
  • Coordinate with auditors to support audit work, cost certification and tax return preparation
  • Assist Senior Development Accountant with implementation and maintenance of systems and procedures
  • Assist Senior Development Accountant with administration of basic tax matters

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellence in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers in an articulate, courteous and business-like manner at all times.
  • Ability to convey issues and problems clearly both in writing and orally
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision and perform effectively under tight time deadlines

Education & Experience:

  • BS degree in Accounting or equivalent required, Advanced degree a plus
  • 2 years of General Accounting experience required, Real Estate or Non-Profit a plus
  • Real Estate Development Accounting experience a plus
  • Experience with YARDI Accounting Package a plus
