Position Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Business Development Manager. The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new construction opportunities, with a primary focus on the medical, behavioral health, and senior care sectors. This role emphasizes building relationships with owners, developers, architects, and operators, while driving project pursuits from early concept through contract award. This position works closely with Preconstruction, Estimating, and Operations to ensure successful project acquisition and handoff, and supports Henderson's broader pursuits across its other target markets as needed.
Role Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field (preferred)
    • 5+ years of experience in business development or sales within construction or a related industry
    • Strong understanding of construction processes and contract types, including design-build, general contracting, and construction management delivery methods
    • Proven track record of networking, building relationships, and achieving new business goals

Position Responsibilities
Lead Generation and Market Expansion
    • Proactively identify, pursue, and qualify new business opportunities among developers, property owners, and general contractors
    • Research and monitor market trends, upcoming projects, competitor activity, and emerging customer needs
    • Develop and execute strategic growth plans for new regions or business sectors

Client Relationship Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and project managers
    • Represent Henderson at networking events, industry conferences, and bid meetings
    • Act as the primary contact for prospective clients during early project stages

Proposal & Tender Management
    • Coordinate with Estimating and project teams to prepare bids, proposals, and presentations
    • Review RFPs and RFQs from clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
    • Ensure submissions are competitive, compliant, and aligned with client expectations

Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth
    • Develop pricing strategies in collaboration with leadership and the estimating team
    • Support contract negotiations and deal closure
    • Meet or exceed new business goals

Collaboration & Internal Coordination
    • Work closely with project managers, estimators, and operations teams to ensure a seamless handover from pursuit to execution
    • Provide input on project feasibility, timelines, and cost considerations
    • Support marketing initiatives, including case studies, capability statements, and branding

Position Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
