Job description

Development Manager
(Atlanta, Full-time, Hybrid)
Fisher Phillips, a premier international labor and employment law firm, is seeking a Development Manager to join a dynamic, forward-thinking IT team that values innovation, collaboration, and client-focused solutions.
Position Summary
The Development Manager is a key member of the firm's Technology Transformation team, responsible for leading the developers and quality assurance professionals who design, build, test, deploy, and support AI solutions, automation workflows, enterprise integrations, agentic tools, and related technology solutions. The role may also provide oversight for SharePoint and collaboration-platform development as part of the broader development function. This role provides direct people leadership while ensuring that work is delivered according to established development, security, documentation, testing, and governance standards.
This role collaborates closely with project managers, business systems analysts, business stakeholders, and other technology leaders to support sprint planning, guide solution delivery, validate estimates and approaches, identify delivery risks, and help the team resolve blockers. The ideal candidate is a strong people manager with technical depth across AI solution delivery, automation, integrations, modern development practices, quality assurance, and collaboration platforms.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, coach, and develop AI Solutions and Automation developers, quality assurance team members, and, if included in the final team structure, SharePoint developers.
  • Provide day-to-day people leadership, including performance feedback, career development, workload awareness, team health, hiring support, and resource planning.
  • Partner with project managers to support sprint planning, backlog review, level-of-effort validation, delivery tracking, release readiness, and project risk management.
  • Ensure development and QA work follows approved standards for security, quality, documentation, testing, accessibility, maintainability, and governance.
  • Guide technical approaches and architecture discussions for AI solutions, automation workflows, integrations, APIs, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and related collaboration platforms, including SharePoint where applicable.
  • Review solution designs, estimates, and delivery plans to ensure they are practical, scalable, supportable, and aligned with business needs.
  • Promote reusable patterns, shared components, documentation practices, and consistent development processes for AI solutions, automation workflows, integrations, and related development work.
  • Support quality assurance planning, testing discipline, handoffs between development and QA, defect triage, release validation, and post-deployment support.
  • Identify delivery risks, resource constraints, supportability concerns, technical debt, and quality gaps early and escalate or resolve as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with Technology Transformation leadership, PMO, IT, Information Security, Information Governance, Knowledge Management, and business stakeholders.
  • Balance project work, support work, production issues, enhancement requests, and innovation efforts across the AI Solutions, Automation, QA, and related development functions.
  • Stay informed on evolving best practices in AI solution delivery, automation tooling, agentic systems, application development, integration patterns, collaboration-platform development, and quality engineering.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in application development, AI solution delivery, automation, enterprise integrations, quality assurance, SharePoint/Microsoft 365 development, or related technology functions.
  • 2+ years of experience managing, leading, coaching, or mentoring technical professionals.
  • Experience providing people leadership, including performance feedback, workload management, career development, and hiring support.
  • Working knowledge of modern development practices, SDLC concepts, testing practices, release management, documentation standards, and production support expectations.
  • Experience supporting agile delivery practices, including sprint planning, backlog review, estimation, risk identification, and coordination with project managers.
  • Familiarity with AI platforms, automation tools, APIs, integration patterns, Power Platform, Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, SPFx, React, TypeScript, C#, or related solution delivery tools.
  • Ability to review technical approaches, challenge assumptions, identify delivery risks, and guide teams toward practical, supportable solutions.
  • Strong understanding of security, permissions, data privacy, access control, governance, and compliance considerations in enterprise technology delivery.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, stakeholder management, coaching, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining team focus, accountability, and delivery quality.

Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience in a law firm, accounting firm, or other professional services organization is highly preferred.
  • Experience managing hybrid teams that support both project delivery and production operations.
  • Experience with AI platforms, automation tools, enterprise integrations, Power Platform, Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, SPFx, or legal technology systems is preferred.
  • Experience with Jira, agile delivery metrics, release planning, and quality assurance workflows is a plus.
  • Software development, QA leadership, DevOps, or solution architecture experience is a plus.
