Job Summary
The Director of Group Sales & Event Planning is responsible for leading the hotel's group sales, meetings, and event operations to achieve revenue, profitability, and guest satisfaction goals. This role combines strategic sales leadership with hands-on event oversight - ensuring that every group booking and event is executed flawlessly from proposal to completion. The Director will develop key market strategies, drive group room and catering revenue, oversee event planning and execution, and ensure Envue's continued positioning as a premier luxury destination for meetings and events.
Candidate Profile
Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive hotel sales and event experience, or
  • 4-year college degree with at least 2 years of related experience, or
  • 2-year college degree with at least 4 years of hotel sales and catering experience
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Essential Job Functions
Leadership & People Management
  • Lead and inspire the Group Sales and Event Planning teams to meet and exceed revenue goals.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance environment with strong communication, coaching, and accountability.
  • Support individual growth and professional development for all team members.
Sales & Business Development
  • Develop and implement group sales strategies to drive revenue in room nights, catering, and event services.
  • Proactively solicit new group business through networking, client events, and market research.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key corporate, association, and social accounts to ensure repeat business.
  • Analyze market and competitive trends to position the property effectively and capture new opportunities.
  • Partner with Revenue Management to forecast demand, evaluate business mix, and optimize pricing.
Event Planning & Execution
  • Oversee the full event lifecycle, from proposal and contract to on-site execution and post-event follow-up.
  • Ensure timely and accurate creation of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), group resumes, and room block management.
  • Collaborate with the culinary and operations teams to ensure seamless service and elevated guest experiences.
  • Conduct pre- and post-event meetings to align internal teams and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Monitor event profitability and adjust strategy to enhance revenue opportunities.
Financial & Strategic Oversight
  • Prepare, implement, and monitor annual budgets and forecasts for group and catering segments.
  • Drive top-line revenue through creative upselling, cross-departmental collaboration, and strong conversion strategies.
  • Participate in weekly revenue management meetings to identify need periods and optimize business mix.
  • Track and report on sales performance, booking pace, and market share metrics.
Training & Compliance
  • Ensure all team members complete required brand and company training.
  • Maintain compliance with brand standards, pricing integrity, and company policies.
  • Oversee safety training and ensure team familiarity with emergency procedures and operational systems.
Guest & Client Relations
  • Act as the primary contact for key clients, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded throughout the planning process.
  • Resolve client concerns with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency.
  • Represent Envue at industry and community events, tradeshows, and professional associations.

Physical Demands
  • Some lifting may be required.
  • Position may require 25%+ of time on feet and occasional travel to client sites, tradeshows, or networking events.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs.
