Herron School of Art and Design (Herron) has been Indiana's premier school for art and design since its founding in 1902, now offering regionally and nationally accredited professional degrees in art, design, and music. The school is part of the thriving urban campus of Indiana University (IU) Indianapolis, located near the heart of the city and its many cultural institutions. Herron has 50 full-time faculty members serving 12 undergraduate majors and 6 graduate degrees, offering a curriculum that prepares graduates to be leaders in a world that requires a unique combination of creativity, conceptual skills, and technical abilities. Herron is an engaged community and regional partner with 5 public galleries, youth and continuing education programs, and the Basile Center for Art, Design, and Public Life.
Job Summary
The Part-Time Career Services Coordinator supports Herron Career Services by providing administrative, project, and event management support to the Director of Career Development. Duties may include assisting with the facilitation of career services events including career fairs, presentations, and workshops; collecting and reporting data; compiling resources; and maintaining contacts with institutions and companies. The Part-Time Career Services Coordinator assists in the development and execution of strategies to ensure career services at Herron is relevant, high-quality, innovative, and responsive to the needs of students and employers.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Maintains, updates, and sources information for Herron's bank of career-related resources for students.
  • Collects and shares relevant and timely professional and career development opportunities with students.
  • Prepares materials for workshops and in-class presentations relating to professional and career development.
  • Develops, manages, promotes, and facilitates career services events including panel discussions, guest speakers, and information sessions.
  • Provides direct support to students in the form of resume reviews, mock interviews, and/or other activities as determined by the Director of Career Services.
  • Communicates with employers regarding opportunities to engage with Herron students.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of career fair and networking events.
  • Tracks employer relations activity in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and/or other methods.
  • Participates in IU Indianapolis' Career Services Council.
  • Participates in Herron's Alumni Engagement Committee.
  • Utilizes resources from professional organizations such as the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
  • Assists in the collection and reporting of First Destination Survey data.
  • Collects and manages data related to internships and other work-based learning experiences.
  • Tracks and reports accurate information on career services engagement data including event attendance.
Qualifications
