Job description

This role supports teams by providing detailed sales and system application engineering support. The position serves as a technical resource for Sales and Engineering teams, helping translate customer requirements into manufacturable product designs and customized solutions. Responsibilities include design proposals for quotations, solution verification, drawing preparation, and support through manufacturing and commissioning.


Key Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:

  • Receive and review design specifications from Sales, Engineered Product Specialists, and/or customers to evaluate product requirements versus technical capabilities
  • Provide detailed sales and system application support, offering guidance to Sales and Engineering teams on product design solutions
  • Prepare detailed component, product, layout drawings, and schematics using SolidWorks and AutoCAD/DraftsSight
  • Develop design proposals for quotations, solution verification packages, and drawing/draft submissions for custom engineered solutions
  • Analyze product and equipment specifications and performance requirements to develop manufacturable designs compatible with existing manufacturing processes
  • Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for assigned product lines
  • Support corrective action investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of permanent corrective actions
  • Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality teams during structured design review meetings for engineered and custom products
  • Locate and modify existing design and application files as needed to support new or updated design requirements
  • Initiate and write Test Requests, analyze results, and implement appropriate engineering actions based on findings
  • Provide engineering support to the manufacturing shop floor and assist with troubleshooting, production support, and implementation needs
  • Perform on-site inspections and support commissioning activities as required
  • Interpret and apply regulatory codes including UL, NEC, and NFPA
  • Identify and correct design errors or omissions promptly, and work to reduce recurrence of engineering issues
  • Develop increasing, expert-level knowledge of assigned products over time
  • Support quality systems, EHS policies, and core organizational values


Skills and Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, or Engineering Technology, plus 3โ€“5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2018 or newer) and SolidWorks
  • Strong understanding of mobile electrification systems for industrial and/or commercial applications
  • Ability to communicate and document technical requirements clearly with Sales, Engineering, and customers
  • Experience preparing engineering drawings, layouts, schematics, and design documentation for manufactured products
  • Ability to analyze technical specifications and convert them into manufacturable engineering solutions
  • Familiarity with industrial regulatory codes including UL, NEC, and NFPA
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy in engineering documentation
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams
  • Capable of working independently while also providing technical guidance to designer-level team members
  • Basic proficiency with technical and business tools used for documentation and communication
