We are a full-service electrical contractor providing comprehensive solutions, including design-build, design-assist, value engineering construction, project management, commissioning/startup, and more.


EMCOR Hyre Electric Co. of Indiana seeks Safety Coordinator to implement best practices and procedures within the company that effectively control accident and health exposures and minimize OSHA citations.

This position is located on site in Hobart, Indiana


Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Collaborate with Safety Committee & Executive Leadership on Company Safety policies/procedures/safety manual

  • Assist in the development of policies for specific work activities, tools/equipment
  • Assist in the development of training and roll out programs for new policies/procedures (select training materials, review OSHA/Company/industry standards, draft/review training)

 Document injury/incident reporting/investigation/claim management

  • Develops/manage injury/investigation reports (create report forms, complete first report/cause map/incident investigation report/supplemental information documents)

 Documents provide/submit proposals for training/safety measures/equipment/ processes

  • Submit revisions/provide safety orientations
  • Onboard new employees (conduct new hire orientation/training/provide PPE)

 Develop/revise/audit safety hazard assessment documentation completion processes

  • Review modify/develop JSA forms 
  • Review develop/revise/maintain project/site safety plans 
  • Reviews/audits site job hazard analysis programs 
  • Reviews/revises safety hazard assessments plans/documentation per client requirements 

 Work with Clients/GC’s/Site managers to correct site issues

  • Perform Job walks 
  • Attend meetings (weekly safety meetings, client incident review, root cause analysis, safety stand-downs, various other work process meetings)

 Assist in staff management

  • Provide guidance (for case management, recordability, legal interpretations, industry standards)
  • Coaching/counseling
  • Promote Company culture/standards (lead from the front)
  • Build/develop positive safety culture (safety bulletins, company newsletter, interdepartmental bulletins, safety stand-down, field presence/interaction)

Other duties as required

  • Assist in management of confined space equipment/plans/training
  • Assist in issuance of high voltage/NFPA70E safety equipment (provide training, maintain equipment/consumable parts, track equipment locations and calibrations/certifications)
  • Assist in issuance of 4-gas meters and calibration equipment (provide training, maintain equipment/consumable parts, track equipment locations and calibrations/certifications)
  • Assist in supply ordering for all company safety equipment 
  • Assist in problem solving in safety issues companywide 
  • Provide first-aid/medical transport/triage
  • Assist in industrial hygiene programs (lead, asbestos, silica and other hazardous materials as required)
  • Ensure compliance with the Safety Program, OSHA, company operating policies and procedures, and provide for safe working environments for employees.
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues with recommendation for resolution.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the operating needs of the company or as directed by executive leadership.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in a professional safety role; proven successful experience as a safety coordinator preferred
  • OSHA certifications
  • Experience writing Health and Safety Plans (HASP’s) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s)
  • Deep understanding of occupational health and safety guidelines/regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry, federal, state, and city environmental and safety regulations and practices
  • Ability to do public speaking, for safety training purposes
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, in good standing

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel).
