Job description

Description

Are you ready to join Leidos all-star team? Through training, teamwork, and exposure to challenging technical work, let Leidos show how to accelerate your career path.

Leidos has an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Project Manager (DPM) to support a critical National Digital Exploitation and OSINT Center (NDOC, formerly NMEC)  program delivering Data Exploitation capabilities to the Intelligence Community (IC) through the DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P).

As the DPM, you will partner closely with the Project Manager (PM) to support day-to-day execution of program operations. You will help drive program performance, coordinate across functional teams, and ensure alignment with customer priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. In the absence of the PM, the DPM is expected to assume delegated program management authority and serve as the primary decision-maker and customer interface to ensure continuity of operations. The program includes a diverse team of 100+ professionals spanning software development, network engineering, Agile delivery, data analytics, outreach, QA/CM, and program controls. Work is primarily conducted on-site at our client location in Bethesda, MD. We offer a flexible schedule and, occasionally, some tasks may be performed remotely. Percentage of remote work will vary based on client requirements/deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the PM in execution of program priorities, initiatives, and task order activities
  • Lead coordination of program deliverables, schedules, and milestones across teams
  • Monitor task progress, identify risks/issues, and drive timely resolution of blockers
  • Facilitate internal and external meetings, including Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs)
  • Prepare and deliver program status reports, briefings, and customer-facing updates
  • Represent the program in customer engagements as needed, communicating status, risks, and mitigation strategies
  • Maintain and update program artifacts, including the risk register and action trackers
  • Support development of program reviews, roadmaps, staffing plans, and other PMO deliverables
  • Coordinate with PMO, staffing, and security teams to track hiring, onboarding, and clearance activities
  • Identify staffing and skill gaps and collaborate with line management to address program needs
  • Serve as acting PM when required, with authority to make program-level decisions, manage priorities, and interface directly with the customer

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field. Additional years of experience in lieu of degree are acceptable.
  • 8–12 years of relevant professional experience supporting technical programs
  • Demonstrated experience leading or significantly supporting cross-functional technical teams
  • Experience working in Agile environments (SAFe or similar frameworks)
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain a Polygraph
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Gitlab)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Master’s degree in a related discipline
  • Prior experience in a Deputy PM, Task Lead, or PMO leadership role
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM), scheduling, and program controls
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community (IC) customers or DOMEX-related missions
  • Experience with Configuration Management documentation and/or System Architecture
