Reports To: Deputy Comptroller

Join CDTA's Finance Team
The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate or early-career professional looking to build a strong foundation in governmental and public transportation accounting while contributing to an organization that provides essential transportation services throughout New York's Capital Region.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and record journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and subsidiary ledgers.
• Process invoices, monitor receivables, and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare financial reports, analyses, and audit documentation.
• Support compliance with accounting policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with departments and provide excellent customer service.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Internship or relevant accounting experience preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Basic understanding of GAAP.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
