Description:

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Denim Designer to support the design and development of trend-driven denim and bottoms collections across private label and in-house brands. This role will be responsible for executing product from concept through production, partnering closely with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, and overseas teams to bring commercially successful product to market.


The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of denim construction, washes, fits, and fabrications, along with a passion for trend research and product innovation. This position is well-suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing creativity with commercial execution.


Responsibilities
  • Design and develop seasonal denim and bottoms collections from concept through production
  • Create trend-right product that aligns with customer needs, brand positioning, and business objectives
  • Conduct market research, trend analysis, and competitive shopping to identify new opportunities in denim and bottoms
  • Develop sketches, CADs, technical flats, and presentation boards for internal and customer meetings
  • Partner with Design leadership on seasonal concepts, wash direction, fits, and key silhouettes
  • Assist in fabric, trim, and wash development, ensuring alignment with design intent and cost parameters
  • Prepare and maintain detailed tech packs and development documentation
  • Review samples and provide clear comments on design, construction, fit, and wash execution
  • Track development calendars and ensure all deliverables are completed according to timelines
  • Support customer presentations and product meetings as needed
  • Partner closely with Product Development, Merchandising, Technical Design, and Sourcing teams throughout the development process
  • Collaborate with Technical Design on fit approvals and garment construction details
  • Communicate regularly with overseas factories to ensure accurate execution of design intent
  • Work with Merchandising to align product assortments with business strategies and customer needs
  • Assist in resolving development challenges while maintaining design integrity and product quality
  • Organize and maintain seasonal sample collections, fabric libraries, wash references, and development materials
  • Assist with sample tracking, fitting preparation, and design room organization
  • Support preparation for line reviews, customer meetings, and seasonal presentations
  • Maintain accurate records of development changes, approvals, and seasonal product information
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Requirements:
  • 3–5 years of apparel design experience, with a strong focus on denim and bottoms
  • Denim experience is required
  • Strong understanding of denim construction, washes, fits, fabrications, and garment finishing techniques
  • Experience creating sketches, CADs, technical flats, and tech packs
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; Photoshop preferred
  • Strong trend forecasting and market research skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Experience working with private label accounts is a plus
  • Experience in the Junior market is preferred
  • Portfolio required


Hybrid Work Schedule

4 days a week in the office, Fridays at home


New York Pay Rate $60,000 - $85,000
