MANAGER OF DEMAND PLANNING & FORECASTING

JOB SUMMARY:

Manager of Demand Planning & Forecasting is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of accurate demand forecasts to drive supply chain efficiency and meet customer requirements. This role focuses on data analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and process optimization to ensure alignment between demand forecasts and business objectives. This role plays a critical role in minimizing inventory costs, reducing stockouts, and improving customer satisfaction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement, and manage demand planning processes to create accurate short-term and long-term forecasts.
  • Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and customer insights to identify demand patterns.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and product teams to incorporate business intelligence into forecasts.
  • Utilize statistical models, forecasting tools, and ERP systems to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Work closely with supply planning, procurement, and production teams to align inventory levels with demand forecasts.
  • Monitor forecast accuracy and adjust plans to address deviations and changing market conditions.
  • Balance inventory investments with service level targets to optimize costs and availability.
  • Partner with sales, operations, and finance teams to ensure alignment between demand forecasts and business strategies.
  • Lead demand review meetings as part of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
  • Act as the main point of contact for demand planning insights, providing recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and reporting tools to track forecast accuracy and demand trends.
  • Identify and communicate key risks and opportunities based on demand forecast data.
  • Leverage data analytics to drive continuous improvement in demand planning processes.
  • Implement and enhance forecasting tools, models, and systems to support demand planning activities.
  • Drive process improvements to increase forecasting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to optimize demand planning capabilities.
  • Lead and mentor a team of demand planners and analysts, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the demand planning team.
  • Set clear performance objectives and accountability standards for team members.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Operations, Logistics, or a related field
  • Experience: 5+ years’ experience in Automotive Manufacturing or related field. 2+ years’ experience and demonstrated success as a knowledgeable supply chain manager in an Automotive Manufacturing, Assembly or Distribution facility

  • Travel Required: Yes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Significant experience in logistics management, with a track record of overseeing transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities.
  • Strong knowledge of forecasting tools and methodologies, such as statistical modeling and machine learning.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems, demand planning software, and data analysis tools.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Project management expertise with a track record of leading process improvements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and solving supply chain challenges.
