Engineering Technician
Roles and Responsibility:
  • Support engineering teams on program tasks and deliverables and for configuring systems, cabling or setting up test equipment
  • Acquire hardware for and build / configure customer unique systems and configurations, perform rework, and maintaining lab compliance and safety
  • Maintain rack of client systems for development and testing
  • Manage lab infrastructure and test systems as required by RENBE (Dell Cybersecurity Compliance system) to include tracking all systems in the Santa Clara labs attached to the Dell internal lab network and ensuring they are registered, and information is updated in RENBE database

Essential Requirements
  • 4 - 6 years of professional experience in a lab technician or engineering role with a Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience
  • Familiarity with system architecture and components
  • Experience debugging, repairing, and updating firmware and code on enterprise server systems and networking switches
  • Capability to and experience with searching for unexpected errors in iDRAC or BIOS and have the ability to debug errors by confirming any existing issues on platform and/or update the HW/SW to resolve issue
  • Ability to Lift or move equipment such as servers up to 30-50lbs. alone or with assistance

Nice to have:
  • Experience being responsible for schematics and layouts of Server Printed Circuit Boards(PCBs) and debugging PCBAs to the board level component
  • Expertise in PCB work, including interpreting schematics and layouts of PCBs, debugging PCBAs to board-level components, and performing soldering for component-level repairs.
