Professionals in this role may provide counseling, negotiate with creditors, create payment plans, and offer financial advice to clients struggling with debt. These positions often require strong communication skills and knowledge of debt relief options, such as debt consolidation, settlement, or bankruptcy. Working remotely allows debt relief specialists to assist clients nationwide using phone, email, or online platforms.

Job Description: Our client, a high-growth financial services startup specializing in consumer and small business debt relief, is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead and grow their outbound sales team. This is a hands-on management role reporting directly to the CEO at a lean, start-up company doing roughly $12M annualized and profitable. The environment sits in a sweet spot between startup and established business not corporate, but no longer scrappy day-one startup either. The ideal candidate is a strong people manager first, with the ability to coach, motivate, and hold a team accountable in a high-volume outbound sales environment.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coach a team of sales reps (team size ranges ~6 direct reports)
  • Lead live and recorded call coaching sessions, teaching reps how to effectively speak with customers
  • Run daily and weekly pipeline management and morning pipeline review meetings
  • Track rep performance and lead lifecycle using provided dashboards
  • Recruit, hire, and manage sales personnel
  • Jump in on customer calls as needed for escalations
  • Handle team issues and personality dynamics directly, escalating to the CEO only when necessary autonomy is expected
  • Manage varying personalities and egos across the team, keeping the group cohesive and focused
  • Lead team meetings with energy, keeping reps motivated and engaged for the next day/next deal
  • Stay closely in the weeds on individual rep performance, stats, KPIs, and metrics
  • Report performance and team updates back to leadership with precision and detail

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven, long-standing sales management experience (the more senior, the better)
  • Demonstrated success managing and developing a sales team, with the ability to quantify specific impact on team performance/growth (e.g., "grew team from X to Y reps over Z years " with specifics on what changed and how you contributed)
  • Strong experience with pipeline management and sales dashboards/CRM (Salesforce)
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to speak precisely to rep-level KPIs and metrics
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage different personalities and egos within a team
  • Strong presence and ability to command respect from a team spanning a wide age range
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy and going with the flow in a lean, fast-moving environment
  • Motivational leadership style able to energize a team without needing to be the most "captivating " personality in the room

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fintech or financial services industry background (not required)
  • Experience managing remote or hybrid sales team members
  • History of promotion or expanded scope within a previous sales management role
