Description

The Maintenance Mechanic will play a critical role in supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Vanguard Renewables' EZ Recycling facility in St. Paul, MN. This position is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial equipment used in organics processing operations. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to high safety and performance standards in a dynamic industrial environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair material-handling and industrial equipment, including balers, conveyors, pumps, compressors, blowers, skid loaders, and forklifts.
  • Conduct routine, preventative, and predictive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools; perform necessary repairs.
  • Operate and troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, work orders, repairs, and parts inventory.
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks for equipment repair or modification.
  • Support upgrades or equipment installations in processing and operational areas.
  • Ensure facility upkeep through general building and grounds maintenance.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and best practices; identify hazards and promote a safety-first culture.
  • Collaborate proactively with other team members and support contractors working onsite.
  • Independently manage daily work tasks with limited supervision.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong mechanical knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: mechanical systems, electrical (high and low voltage), hydraulic and pneumatic systems, welding, plumbing, piping, or carpentry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Welding skills preferred; general electrical knowledge beneficial.
  • Forklift and skid loader certifications preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage projects, and troubleshoot effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma, GED, technical school training, or relevant hands-on industrial experience.
  • Manual dexterity for equipment operation and basic computer documentation.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance required.
  • Strong communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
