Program Director - Behavioral Health All Day ProgramAbout the Role

Citizens Behavioral Health is seeking an experienced and dedicated Program Director to lead our Behavioral Health All Day Program. This position serves as the clinical and operational leader responsible for ensuring high-quality care, staff development, regulatory compliance, and efficient program operations.

The Program Director will play a vital role in supporting clients, supervising staff, and helping the organization continue its mission of delivering compassionate, evidence-based behavioral health services throughout North Carolina.

Position Summary

The Program Director oversees the daily operations of our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This leadership position combines clinical oversight, team supervision, compliance management, and quality improvement to ensure exceptional client care and program success.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership
  • Provide oversight and support to therapists, case managers, nursing staff, and other clinical team members.
  • Review treatment plans, clinical documentation, and client progress.
  • Support clinical decision-making and crisis intervention when needed.
  • Promote evidence-based treatment practices throughout the program.
Program Operations
  • Manage daily program schedules, staffing assignments, admissions, and discharges.
  • Ensure smooth operation of group services and treatment activities.
  • Coordinate resources to maintain efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Monitor workflow and operational performance.
Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain high standards for clinical documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Support audits, reviews, and quality assurance activities.
  • Monitor documentation accuracy and timely completion.
Staff Supervision & Development
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and support clinical staff.
  • Conduct regular supervision meetings and performance evaluations.
  • Provide guidance to developing clinicians and emerging leaders.
  • Promote professional growth and team collaboration.
Quality Improvement
  • Monitor client outcomes, satisfaction, attendance, and program performance indicators.
  • Implement improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and client engagement.
  • Support continuous quality improvement efforts across the program.
Community & Care Coordination
  • Collaborate with organizational leadership, referral partners, and healthcare providers.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical teams and community stakeholders.
  • Support care coordination and continuity of services for clients.
Crisis Management
  • Provide leadership and support during clinical emergencies and crisis situations.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and follow-up procedures are completed.
  • Promote a safe and supportive treatment environment.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Active professional licensure in North Carolina.
  • Minimum 3 years of behavioral health experience.
  • Experience in leadership, supervision, or program management roles.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health treatment, clinical documentation, and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in PHP, IOP, Day Treatment, or similar behavioral health programs.
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance and quality improvement practices.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • CPR/BLS Certification.
