Job description

Ravenscroft is seeking a part-time Extended Day Teacher to join our Extended Day Program. This position works Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM and plays an integral role in supporting the safety, well-being, and enrichment of our youngest learners after school.

The Extended Day Teacher supports the implementation of planned activities and provides attentive supervision to ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for students. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, values collaboration, and is committed to fostering meaningful relationships within a diverse and inclusive school community.

We seek candidates who demonstrate empathy, cultural awareness, and an understanding of diverse backgrounds; prioritize authentic connections with students, families, faculty, and staff; and model curiosity, professionalism, and a growth mindset.

Reports to: Extended Day Director and Co-Director 

What You'll Do: 

  • Provide attentive supervision of 1st and 2nd grade students during play, homework time, and structured program activities
  • Implement age-appropriate activities within the Extended Day program structure
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing environment by proactively monitoring student behavior and addressing safety concerns
  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress and daily experiences
  • Contribute to general planning and preparation for program activities
  • Coordinate activities and assist with field trips as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
  • Monitor facilities for safety issues and report concerns promptly
  • Collaborate effectively with Extended Day staff and other school personnel
  • Provide flexibility to support Early Release Days, Teacher Workdays, and additional program needs as required

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with young children and a demonstrated enthusiasm for doing so
  • Strong communication skills, including tact in dealing with parents, colleagues, and children in a school setting 
  • Dependable, with a strong work ethic and ability to work cooperatively with other staff
  • Flexibility in work schedule to assist with Early Release Days, Teacher Workdays, and other additional hours as required by the school 

Preferred:

  • Background and/or degree in Education or a related field 
  • Previous experience in Early Childhood, or K-12 school environment 

Work Environment and Physical Demands: 

This part-time role is based on Ravenscroft’s campus and includes work in classrooms, outdoor play areas, and shared community spaces. The position requires the ability to move throughout campus, actively supervise children, engage in physical activities with students, and communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and families. Occasional additional hours may be required on Early Release Days and Teacher Workdays. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
