Job description

Starting Pay Rate: DS

Schedule of Hours: - Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for a variety of duties related to the provision of overall support and care for individuals receiving services from Skill Creations, Inc. Those that Skill Creations Inc. Serves in this capacity are individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury and secondary mental health/substance abuse issues. The DSP works in the day program or community providing group care according to the specific needs of the individuals and their plan(s) of care. The Direct Support Professional may assist with incidental personal care, behavioral support, medication administration, job coaching and assistance and/or independent living skills. The Direct Support Professional also provides educational opportunities in the areas of communication and recreation/leisure. Starting pay is $16.00-$20.00 per hour for Full and Part time DSP positions depending on service provided ($16.00 per hour for all back up/PRN positions).

**Full-Time staff members (30+ scheduled hours per week) are offered a competitive benefits package that includes Health, Dental and Life Insurance, holiday pay, paid time off and 401K.

Requirements:

  • · High School diploma or GED from an accredited school
  • · Prompt and regular attendance for assigned work schedule is expected. Includes working during inclement weather and some holidays.
  • · Valid Driver’s license and acceptable Driving Record
  • · Criminal Record Check
  • · Successful completion of course work will be required in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
  • · Basic computer skills are needed for e-mail, electronic training modules and recording data.
  • · Persons must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and the work occasionally requires balancing, bending, stooping and kneeling. The position requires the employee to be on his or her feet most of the time.
  • · Ability to meet the individual client specific needs
