Job description

Job Title: Nursery Director
Reports To: Next Gen Team
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will collaborate with other members of the BMBC staff, paid caregivers, and volunteers, though their primary responsibility is assuring the success of BMBC nursery ministry and childcare.
  • Primary responsibilities are ministering to children ages birth through __ years old and their families and smooth operation of nursery, Sunday school and childcare. The goal of this job is to assure the nursery is always available and welcoming for any young family wishing to attend a church event at any time.

Ministry
  • Building on and expanding current Early Childhood ministry
  • Expanding ministry to new parents
  • Reaching out to first time families (keeping track of and celebrating new births)
  • Responsible for preparing age-appropriate lessons and activities
  • Lead in developing an effective environment that facilitates spiritual transformation

Responsibilities
  • Communicate needs and expectations with paid caregivers and volunteers
  • Communicate with BMBC staff and volunteers regarding childcare needs (regular as well as special events)
  • Create monthly schedules for caregivers
  • Assure adequate nursery hospitality support is scheduled and present
  • Approve paid caregivers' hours
  • Respond to any changes in scheduling and staffing
  • Assure BMBC nursery policies are in line with industry best practices
  • Train caregivers and volunteers in BMBC childcare policies
  • Assure smooth operation of nurseries
  • Quickly and effectively handle any disputes between caregivers and/or caregivers and parents
  • Model hospitality and care to parents and children
  • Develop and implement an appreciation program for caregivers

Education and Desired Skills:
  • High School diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Leadership, management, or HR experience in day schools or daycare facilities, church ministry experience preferred
