A day care assistant helps run a day care center or classroom. They assist the lead teacher with all childcare and teaching duties. As a day care assistant, you supervise the children, develop a daily schedule, prepare snacks or meals, monitor hygiene habits, and organize activities. You also keep document each child’s progress to discuss with their parents. To become a day care assistant, you need a high school diploma or equivalent. Some employers prefer candidates who have experience working with young children.
