Job description

Summary:
Sheridan Ranch is looking for experienced and dependable Day Workers to assist with various cattle-related tasks on an as-needed basis. This is a seasonal position, ideal for individuals with strong cattle-handling skills who are available during peak working periods.
Responsibilities:
  • Help during works, including marking, branding, weaning, and shipping.
  • Assist in daily cattle care, including feeding, watering, and basic health checks.
  • Upkeep ranch appearance by repairing farm buildings, fences, and other structures.
  • Operate farm and heavy equipment such as tractors, skid loaders, and trucks.
  • Safely perform tasks assigned.
  • Adhere to all industry, company, and local ranch policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily work that may include independent tasks and collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Available to work on an as-needed basis.
  • Safely and proficiently work cattle on horseback while following the company's animal husbandry/welfare policies.
  • Safely and efficiently gather cattle in pasture and work cattle in corrals/pens, adhering to low-stress principles.
  • Have reliable transportation and own horse(s).
  • Be punctual, respectful, and safety-conscious.

Working Conditions:
  • Frequent lifting up to ~50 lbs; extended walking and standing; regular use of tools and machinery; frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing; good vision and communication required; sustained physical labor.
  • Outdoor agricultural settings; exposure to heat, cold, wind, sunlight; dust, pollen, chemicals; machinery and vehicles; uneven or elevated surfaces; moderate to loud noise; variable hours including extended or seasonal shifts; PPE required.
